"How long you been with your boo, Naya?" Jada asked as she made an attempt to add me into the conversation.
"Seven months official, nine all together," I replied.
"Shit I need to find me a nigga to buy me a Mercedes like that," Jada joked.
"Nah we independent girl, we don't need no nigga," Yaya said before I rolled my eyes.
"Maybe you wouldn't if you actually knew how to tattoo," I said as I went to throw my trash away.
"Okay and you supposed to be this high class artist and you still dependin' on a nigga," Yaya said.
"I'm not dependin' on him for shit. He don't pay none of my bills. I can take care of myself, which is why everything he gives me is gifts not necessity," I said.
"Well isn't a car a necessity?" Yaya asked.
"I had bought my own car way before him. He got me an upgrade," I replied. "But see broke bitches like you still ridin' to work on a train while runnin' ya mouth about everybody and they nigga."
"Y'all don't start that shit again," Spence said before Otis walked into the shop.
I hadn't talked to Otis since our fight the other night. We stood there looking at each other for a second before he said, "can I talk to you outside?"
I put my phone in my back pocket before walking out of the shop with him behind me.
"I ain't heard from you," he said.
"Yeah... I let you know I wasn't going to be the one reaching out when I left your house that night," I said.
"I don't know what this is. Like what's the huge issue that took us here," he said causing me to furrow my eyebrows.
"Otis, you are the only one that can answer that question. You provoked me into an argument. So you tell me what the issue is," I said.
"I just been thinkin' 'bout a lot of shit and that night you just looked way too close to Dean," he said before I shook my head.
"Thinking about what? And the fact that you would even think I was flirtin' wit' yo cousin is ridiculous. We were all drinkin', he was pourin' liquor for everybody. I never touched him, I never tried to get close to him. If anything any interaction we did have is because he approached me. So who should you really be mad at?" I said. "And I don't even think that Dean would try some shit like that anyway," I said as he looked at the ground.
His eyes lifted to the window before I turned around to see my coworkers trying to hurry and close the blinds to act like they weren't ease-dropping.
"Can we go to your car?" I asked.
"I didn't come here in my car," he said before I furrowed my eyebrows.
"Okay well how'd you get here?" I asked.
"Dean drove me," he replied before I rolled my eyes.
I turned around to try and walk back in the shop before he grabbed my wrist.
"Don't do that, come here-"
"You came here wit' Dean but you want to come here and try to confront me like I'm the dirty hoe!" I said raising my voice.
"I ain't come here to confront you, I came here to apologize," he said.
I yanked my wrist out of his hand before he grabbed me and threw me over his shoulder. We walked further from the shop before he put me down.
"I'm sorry ight? I should've trusted you because you ain't never show me no type of disloyalty. I think I had some other shit goin' on and it had me lookin' at everybody differently-"
"What shit, Otis?! Talk to me instead of lashin' out at me-"
"I know," he said before stepping closer to me. "Trust me, if I could tell you I would."
"Why can't you tell me?" I asked looking up at him.
"I got to figure everything out first. I need you to trust me, ight?" He said as I furrowed my eyebrows.
"Otis-"
"Do you trust me?" He asked.
"Yeah but you're scaring me," I replied.
"Don't be scared, I got you no matter what. Just know that," he said before I nodded.
He kissed me before we heard a car roll up next to us.
"YALL NIGGAS CUTE!" Dean said as he rolled down his window.
I laughed before looking up at Otis. I could tell something was wrong, I just wish he could tell me whatever it is.
