The man drove to the nearest hospital while Abir held on to Mishti for dear life. Her trauma and her pain was finally catching up with her and he wanted to be there for her in every way possible.
They reached the hospital and abir thanked the man in a hurry and leapt out of the car with Mishti in his arms.
Inside the hospital, Abir saw a doctor stepping out of a room as he ran towards the doctor and said, "doctor! Doctor! My wife!" He said and gestured to the unconscious Mishti in his arms. The doctor nodded and led Abir to a consultation room as there were no visible physical injuries. Inside the room the doctor said, "what happened that she fainted?" The doctor asked. Abir briefly explained Mishti's battle with nightmares and panic attacks and said that she was almost in an accident. The doctor nodded and said, "sir, aap please bahar wait kariye, I need to conduct some tests. I'll call you once we're done." The doctor said. Abir nodded and stepped out.
Much to his surprise he found the strange man still waiting outside. Abir was kinda glad, he hadn't thanked the man properly for saving his wife's life. He approved the man and said, "I'm sorry mein aapko pehle thanks nahi keh paya...Woh actually I was really worried. But I really can't thank you enough for saving my wife's life. Thank you. And also for driving us here. Thanks for everything." Abir said. The man smiled and said, "it's not a problem. By the way, I'm Varun." The man introduced himself. Abir smiled at the name and introduced himself, "I'm Abir and that was my wife Mishti." Varun too smiled at the name. It really was a small world.
"Waise how's your wife?" Varun asked. Abir sighed and said, "they've taken her in for tests. I hope everything is okay." Abir signed. Varun smiled and said, "sab theek hoga." Abir smiled. Varun's phone rang. Abir nodded at him to pick it up. Varun stepped a little away and picked up the phone, "hello? Haan, I'll be there soon. Actually someone needed my help so I'm with them. Don't worry ketki, I'll be there soon. I promise." Varun said and hung up. Abir's eyes widened at the name. "Ketki?" He asked in surprise.
Varun nodded and said, "yes my would-be-fiancé. I was on my way to her house so she called to ask me how long would I take." Varun said. Abir gasped in surprise, "ketki? You mean ketki Rajvansh?" Abir asked. Varun smiled shyly at the mention of ketki and nodded his head. Abir grinned at that. He laughed and said, "what a small world. I'm Abir Rajvansh. Ketu's older brother." He said. Varun too laughed in surprise, "what were the odds! Never thought we'd end up meeting like this!" He said. Abir grinned and nodded and said, "well you definitely earned yourself some brownie points today!" Abir teased. Varun laughed shyly.
They were then interrupted by the doctor.
"Sir, May I talk to you in the cabin?" She asked. Abir nodded as Varun said, "I'll wait here for y'all. Saath mein ghar chalenge?" He offered. Abir smiled and nodded. He then stepped inside the cabin. His fear catching up with him.
"Doctor? Mishti theek hain na?" He asked.
The doctor smiled slightly and said, "your wife is okay Mr.?" She asked. Abir sighed in relief and said, "Abir. Abir Rajvansh. Lekin, agar woh theek hain toh why did she faint?" He asked.
The doctor sighed and removed her glasses and said, "Mr. Rajvansh, you mentioned panic attacks right? So from the looks of it, your wife went through more than one panic attack back to back and the sudden adrenaline with the almost accident led to her losing her consciousness. Plus it's normal in times like these." She mentioned. Abir furrowed his eyebrows, "normal? Why?" He asked.
She smiled and said, "congratulations Mr.Rajvansh. Your wife is pregnant." She said.Abir's heart skipped a beat. Pregnant? Mishti was pregnant? They were going to be parents? A child of their own? Their own family? His heart was already overflowing with joy. He had no doubt that Mishti would be the best mother their child could ever have. She would love and protect the child with all her being. He was sure. But then he frowned. Mishti was shaken, scared and extremely vulnerable right now. The most beautiful journey of their life and Mishti wouldn't be able to enjoy it like she deserved to. He looked at the doctor and asked, "with these panic attacks...will Mishti and the child be okay?" He asked. The doctor smiled at Abir's concern and said, "Mr Rajvansh, women are stronger than you think. But to answer your question, they will be physically okay, but so much stress on the mother and child is definitely not good. I suggest you keep your wife away from everything that is causing her stress. Motherhood is a beautiful journey and should be enjoyed to its fullest." The doctor suggested. Abir nodded and asked, "can I meet her? Is she awake?" He asked. The doctor nodded and said, "we have an IV line going right now, but you should be able to take her home within an hour or so. And I've prescribed some prenatal vitamins and some other medicines to help with her panic attacks but make sure you schedule an appointment for an ultrasound at the earliest." The doctor smiled. Abir nodded and the doctor led him to Mishti's room.
He saw his wife lying on the bed. Her eyes closed and an almost serene expression on her face. He loved to see this expression on Mishti's face. His eyes then darted to her midsection. Pregnant. The word still echoed in his mind. They both adored children and definitely wanted them but he just wished the timing would have been a little better for Mishti. Fate was really testing her limits. He tenderly placed his hand on her stomach. His child. He smiled at the thought.
His phone vibrated in his pocket. His eyes nearly jumped out of his sockets as he read the name and number on the screen. It was Nanko and he was calling from his Indian number.Abir stepped away and picked up the call.
"BHAIII! Guess what! Mein kahan hoon!" Kunal asked. Abir smiled and said, "Rajkot airport." Kunal pouted and said, "Kya yaar bhai, not fair, aapne toh mera saara surprise bigaad diya!" He said. Abir laughed and said, "lekin mein toh surprised hoon! Tu yahan kaise lekin?" Abir asked. Kunal smiled and said, "Sab baad mein batata hoon bhai. Par aap ho kahan, aur yeh whisper kyun kar rahe ho?" Kunal asked. Abir sighed and said, "Sab baad mein batata hoon, pehle tu meri baat sunn. I need your help." Abir said. Kunal said, "of course bhai, boliye na? Kya hua? Sab theek hain na?" He asked. Abir smiled at nanko's concern and assured him everything was okay and then told him the plan. Kunal nodded and said, "done bhai. See you in an hour!" Abir grinned and hung up.Seeing Mishti still unconscious, he went outside and sat next to Varun and said, "well, Varun. Once again, thank you for everything. But I actually have a really important work that needs to be done today itself. I really want to know more about you but I don't think it'll be possible today." Abir said.
Varun smiled and said, "that's alright Abir. How's Mishti?" He asked. Abir smiled and said, "she's okay. All thanks to you." He said. Varun grinned and got up and said, "I should leave then. Ketki must be waiting for me. She was really excited to introduce you to me, so I'm not gonna tell her about any of this. Is that okay?" Varun asked tentatively. Abir got up too and said, "I'll handle Ketu suketu." Abir smiled. Varun nodded and turned to leave when Abir called him back. Varun turned around to face Abir when Abir said, "welcome to the family." Varun smiled shyly at that and nodded his head and left.
Abir dropped a quick text to Ketu saying,
"Sorry Ketu, Mishti ko meri zaroorat hain, hum aaj shayad Varun se nahin mil payenge. But soon. I promise." Abir texted.Ketu was although upset, texted back saying
"No problem bhai, aap Mishti bhabhi ka dhyaan rakhna. And let me know if you need anything."
Abir smiled at the text. It was a surreal feeling.
His baby sister was growing up and he was going to have a baby soon with the love of his life.
