Chapter twelve

The whole castle was silent, not a peep was to be heard. The entire house staff had frozen in their spots sensing the off balance in the air. The pack warriors ran with all their might to reach the castle in time. Their paws dug up dirt as they pushed themselves forward, the scent of a vampire drove them to run passed their breaking points. The slower ones, the newbies as the elder ones call them were lost in the dust of the older ones, with their size it wasn't a surprise to the elders that their numbers dwindled as they continued to push forward.

Back in the castle the alpha stayed silent as his daughter continued to ignore the vampire who was pestering her with questions. Like, 'how have you been?' Or 'you don't remember much of me do you?' It grew quite annoying for the girl but all she did was glare at his cocky demeanor. The smirk never left his lips as he stared back at her with same intensity.

"How old was I the last time I saw you?" Her question echoed off the walls of the room. His smirk flattered enough for her to take notice.

"You're eighteen now, correct?" He questioned with uncertainty.

"Nineteen." She corrected him and his face scrunched up in distaste.

His fist came in contact with the table, which gave a groaning sound in return. "You kept us away for thirteen god damn years?" The daughter felt her heart drop into her stomach, it had been that long? She couldn't believe it and she didn't like how sad she felt for not having the vampires in her life for those thirteen years.

"Niall," the way his name had came out had caught both of the fuming males attention. The way she had said didn't sound formal, it sounded like she needed him to reassure her that everything was going to be alright in the end. "Why? Why did you guys leave when I was six?" Her fuzzy memory of the play dates her and the vampire kings had were slowly coming back, too slow for her liking.

The vampire was in front of her in seconds causing her to stumble back slightly in surprise. His features had softened, "you started to smell like us and we didn't want you to get picked on at school because you smelt different than the other kids. The others, they thought it was best to just leave and you'd forget about us soon enough. Which, apparently you did." The sad smile he gave was heart breaking for her to see.

Suddenly werewolves broke through the windows around them, huffing and puffing they growled at the creature that stood close to their princess. The alpha was lost in the sea of anger wolves. In his wolf form he was almost impossible to spot out.

"You have to get out of here." She demanded the vampire, not wanting to see him get hurt.

"Hell no, I left you once I'm not leaving you again. Does it ever occur to you to listen to your werewolf side once and awhile?" He hissed, taking an uneasy step back away from the wolves before him. He pulled her back along with him.

"What?" It was fair to say she was utterly confused.

"Don't you get it? I'm your mate."
