After getting out of my F/A-18 I was prompted to go to the mission briefing room. After winding through the tight corridors of the decks below the flight deck of the carrier I find my way back to the mission and fight briefing room. When I get there I see most of the pilots from almost each air wing and squadron. A few minutes after finding my seat the air boss walks up to the podium and tells each squadron their mission fists the 125th electronic attack, then the 275th light strike, 199th fleet defense, and after about 12 more my squadron VFA-103 "Jolly Rogers". The air boss's instructions are "VFA-103 your job is to provide air cover for coalition attack aircraft and bombers in the air superiority role". At the end of the briefing we are told "America is at war with Iraq". Right after all of the pilots and crew members bolt to the flight deck which is now under the cover of night to prepare for what would become the air war of desert storm.
