Arabella's P. O. V.
That night, after washing the paint off my face, I sat at the bow of the ship. Cotton was at the helm, while everyone was sleeping. Looking at the dark horizon, I pulled the compass out of my pocket. I had yet to return it to Jack, and he didn't say anything about giving it back.
I stared at the compass, remembering what Jack told me.
"It points to the thing you want most."
Biting my bottom lip, I opened the compass and watched the needle as it spun around, not hearing the footsteps coming towards me. Finally, it stopped, pointing to my left. Turning, I found Jack beside me.
"I thought you would be asleep," I spoke.
"I was mapping how long it will take to reach our destination," he replied, looking at the compass in my hand. "We'll arrive tomorrow."
I glanced at the compass, the needle still pointing at my brother.
"I'm guessing you want things to be like they used to?"
I gave a small smile, as I remembered my childhood with Jack before he left. Before I could reply, the needle began to spin again, until it pointed to my left. My eyebrows knitted together.
"What could it be pointing to?" I asked aloud, staring at the horizon.
Jack sat next to me, staring at the compass.
"Is there something else you want?" He asked me.
I began to think. I want to keep Lizzie from hanging, and as I thought of her, Michael came to mind.
"Someone?"
I looked up at him.
"What do mean?"
"You're blushing," he smirked.
I dipped my head, trying to hide.
"Who is he?"
"Michael, he's Lizzie's twin. He's a sailor in the Royal Navy."
"Stay away from him. Anyone in the Navy arrests pirates."
I smiled.
"I think he's different than the others."
Jack hummed. Silence fell and we just sat there. I closed the compass and held it out to him.
"Here."
He took the compass, before turning to me.
"We should sleep, there's an extra bed in the cabin. I added it in case you changed your mind about piracy."
We left the bow, and walked across the deck to the captain's cabin.
"You mean, in hopes I changed my mind."
Jack only smiled as we reached the cabin doors. Once inside, we both laid in our respective beds and fell asleep.
——
We arrived at our destination at noon the next day. The anchor was lowered, keeping the Pearl in the shallow waters next to the island. Two longboats were prepared and we climbed in, before rowing up the river.
The farther we traveled, the jungle trees grew denser, until they were almost blocking the sun completely. Jack rode in the first boat with Cotton rowing, and a dark skinned pirate. Will and I rode in the second boat with Gibbs and Marty, with Pintel and Ragetti rowing.
"Why is Jack afraid of the open ocean?" Will asked.
"If you believe such things," Gibbs started. "There's a beast what does the bidding of Davy Jones. A fearsome creature with giant tentacles that'll suction your face clean off."
