The events from hours before felt like an entire day behind by the time Tanjiro pulled into the driveway outside of the Kanzaki household. The driveway was empty, only faded shapes of animals and shapes left from colored chalk decorating the smooth pavement."This is the right place, right?"
"Yes-- Kanao, are you awake?" The girl with a single pigtail ask from the backseat, tapping the shoulder of her friend who's resting in the passenger.
Kanao doesn't stir, indicating that she's asleep before letting out a gentle snore. Aoi sighs, unbuckling her seat belt and getting out of the car to lift the girl out and into her house.
"Do you two live here together?" Tanjiro inquires, tapping his fingers on the steering wheel gently to the beat of the faint music playing from his radio.
"This is my house, and my family is out of town on a trip this weekend. I don't think her older sisters would like it too much if I bring her home blackout drunk like this."
She unfastens the belt wrapped around Kanao's waist, easing her out of the car and leaning her over her shoulder to walk her inside.
"Thanks a lot for the ride, really."
The boy smiles as he turns the car into reverse, placing his hand on the passenger seat and turning to see the terrain behind him. "My pleasure! I couldn't just leave her there wasted like that, or I'd be one shitty person."
Aoi watches him pull halfway out of the driveway before stopping and peaking his head out from the driver's window.
"Oh, and tell her the number written on her hand is mine!" He laughs, giving the two a final wave before driving off into the dark road blaring some song she couldn't even begin to understand.
Her eyes shoot down to the small hand of the unconscious girl beside her, and across the back of it reads several digits. She can't help but laugh at the irony of it all before carrying her up the steps of her porch and into the house.
She sets Kanao down on the couch before shaking her shoulder gently. "Hey, are you dead?"
The girl with a side ponytail stirs, hand pushing hers away groggily before groaning. "I'm tireddd--."
"I'm not surprised. I'll tell Kanae that we're having a sleepover, and you can crash on the couch."
Kanao simply nods in reply before drifting back out into her sleeping state, leaving Aoi alone in empty and dark house.
Her gaze travels to the only light being admitted throughout the house, a rather cheap alarm clock that reads 5:43AM. Deciding that there's no use in even sleeping, she grabs a water from the fridge and heads upstairs.
The door to her room creaks slowly, and opens to reveal a moonlight neat bedroom covered in minimalist plants and butterfly related decor. Her eyes land on the window, and she fiddles with the lock on it for a moment before it opens.
The breeze that blows her jet black hair is warm, and she takes a step outside onto a portion of the roof right under the windowsill. The view of the city from the spot is amazing, and it never fails to take her breath away. Especially when the sun is kissing the horizon like it is now, painted over lightly with clouds and stars that are fading away with every approaching second.
Breathing out a heavy sigh of exhaustion, her mind wanders.
Deja vu, huh.
Pharmacist.. medicine. I don't think I've even thought of a career like that before so why--
Why does it seem so familiar?
She shakes her head briefly before laying down onto her back, leaning on the slanted shingles and lifting a land to trace the faint constellations in the sky.
--What am I even thinking?

After almost two hours of contemplation and disassociation on the rooftop, Aoi had gone inside and started making breakfast. The sun by then had risen, bathing the kitchen in a warm light as the fresh scent of fruits and warm breakfast danced around the house.
Kanao had finally woken up, and after vomiting for a solid 10 minutes and taking a couple of ibuprofen could finally function again.
The girl at the counter arranges two plates of breakfast efficiently before carrying them over to the table her friend is resting at with a sigh.
"What a night.." She breathes out as she settles into an empty seat.
"I can't believe I drank that much--" Kanao groans, stretching out her arm to re-read the numbers written sloppily on her hand. "I don't even wanna know what I did.."
"You weren't too bad when I was around." Aoi comments, taking a bite of a neatly folded omelet before continuing. "Tanjiro is a nice guy. I think you two would be nice together."
Blush spreads quickly over her face and she takes a desperate sip of her water to cover it, which only gains her a laugh from the girl across the table.
"What about you? Where did you go after I ran off with him?"
Aoi rolls her eyes, stirring the cup of orange juice beside her with the straw lazily. "I saw that boy I punched the other day, and he was super drunk. So I had no choice to help him to the bathroom and try to sober him up a bit."
Kanao's eyes light up for a moment before taking another bite of her breakfast. "A possible love interest!"
"You're kidding! As if I'd be interested in somebody so reckless. Not in a million years." She chuckles before taking another sip her beverage. "It's strange though, because it almost feels familiar to hear that.
Before she can respond, Aoi's phone lights up with a notification from an unknown number.
"i didn't die"
A small smile spreads across her lips as she opens the pop-up and types her reply.
"aw man, i was hoping you would"
"mean, that's why i wont give you your hairpin back"
"guess ill just have to steal it back then"
Kanao lifts an eyebrow and creeps out of her seat to peak nosily over her friends shoulder. "Is that the crazy boy?"
She jumps, almost dropped her phone into her breakfast at the sudden appearance behind her. "Ah-- yes! You scared the shit out of me!"
The girl wearing a side ponytail laughs before walking back over to her seat. "So that's why your hairs completely down for once." She comments, pointing that her jet black hair was down and flowing over her shoulders.
Aoi nods, turning back to her phone which already has a new notification.
"meet me at the park @ 12? i'll give it to you then if you prove yourself worthy to lord inosuke"
She speedily types her reply.
"you're on"
