TAEHYUNG's POV
"That's nice."
Her eyes widen. Areum put her hands down and stared at me dumbfounded. She honestly couldn't believe I was completely cool with it. It's actually what I've been waiting for since my father found her.
"What do you mean? Aren't you surprised?"
"I surely am surprised, especially at the fact that you just blurted it out to me, but you're a very beautiful woman. Who wouldn't want to marry you?"Little did she know that I knew beforehand, I'll have to act like I didn't know and that I'll 'help' her in calling it off. She clearly had no expression upon her face. I couldn't tell if she was confused or upset. She just stood there. Areum gazed at the floor before she said anything.
"So, you don't mind?" She asked.
Areum was still facing the floor and I slowly reached out for her hand. She didn't move nor did she say anything. I stopped and take a deep breath. I should ask her before I even try to hold her hand.
"Can I hold your hand?"
She only nodded and I took her hand in mine. I intertwines our fingers. Seeing how close she was to me and that she let me hold her hand made me smile. She clears her throat before pulling her hand away from mine.
"Hold me."
She didn't add anything to her sentence and she stood there. Areum was just staring at me, waiting for me. I did as she asked and pulled her into an embrace. I was confused but I complied.
AREUM's POV
I wanted to see if I felt anything if he held me to him and I did. I somehow felt at ease for some reason. Slowly I laid my head on his chest, his heartbeat sped up and it caused me to giggle a bit. He hummed confused and looked down at me. I shook my head, signaling him that nothing was going on.
"I can talk with my father so the marriage won't go forth."
I thought about what Mr. Kim and I spoke about. I didn't want to know what would happen if I went against what I had also agreed on. I shook my head again and told him that it was alright, that I would go forth with the marriage. Taehyung was shocked, he was staring at me in disbelief and he placed his hand on my shoulder. Honestly I understand why he's so confused. I mean how would you feel if you found out you are to be married to a complete stranger.
A couple weeks went by, I still hadn't mentioned the marriage to Jisoo and Jungkook. I didn't know how to tell them. I knew they would be confused, I mean I am confused too and I'm the one getting married. Jungkook came over because my parents had asked him to, my father was still in the hospital recovering and my mother stayed with him. My mother's plan was to make us stay at the hotel but my father had asked her to send us home so Jisoo and Jungkook could be close and watch over us. My father trusted those two very much. Jisoo had gone to the store to get us some food and Jungkook was playing with Eden and Kristian. None of them would let me do anything around the house, every time I tried to cook or clean they would immediately tell me that they would take care of it. I appreciated their help very much around the house but I really wanted to distract myself for a while from this whole situation. I was sitting by the front window, just trying to process what was going on. I just graduated high school, I should be applying for universities, my father gets a job at one of the most luxurious hotels, we assist a ball, my father is rushed to a hospital because of his heart condition and I am to be married to one of the son's of a very very wealthy man so I could pay off my father's medical bills. The bills were in the tens of thousands, there was no way we could pay all of that, so I took the deal. This all seemed so surreal.
