"Wake up, sleepyhead," I hear my eight year old sister say. I slowly open my left eye and I see Lina standing beside my bed. I try to open my other eye but if it won't open because I am too sleepy. Or maybe because I am not trying hard enough. While I am trying to open my right eye ,the left one closes.

Just as I am starting to fall back asleep I fell a pain on my cheek.

SLAP!!!!!!!!!!

I quickly jump from my bed. I look at Lina  with a questioning look.

"Owwwww. What the hell ,Lina?" I ask.

"Oh ,I'm sorry. I thought I remembered you telling me that if ever you're late I should wake you up in any way," says Lina sarcastically.

"Was it really necessary to slap me though? What if I bruise?" I ask rubbing my cheek.

"Not my problem. I'm not the the one ignoring my alarms," she says.

"You don't have any alarms. I wake you up everyday!" I say.

My eyes drift to my bedside clock. I only have 30 minutes to get to school. Why am I always late?

"Shit. Shit. Shit!" I mutter as I run around the room.

"Nathan is up already. You don't have to worry about anything else. Just ... get yourself to look less like an ogre ,okay?" says Lina with a disapproving look on her face.

I stop and look at her. "Gee ,thanks. You've just boosted my self confidence," I say sarcastically.

"Stop blabbing and get ready," she says clapping her hands.

I run into the bathroom and take a five minute shower. After brushing my teeth I run back into my bedroom. Lina is not in there anymore so I guess she is having breakfast. I open my closet and I pick the first things that catch my eye.

A pair of white jeans, a blue denim shirt and white sneakers. I quickly comb my hair and tie it on top of my head. When I am done I grab my bag and run downstairs.

When I enter the kitchen I see Nathan and Lina eating their cereal on the island.

"Hey Nate. Thanks for waking Lina up," I say as I kiss his cheek.

"Yeah sure. No problem," he says between bites.

"He didn't wake me up. I woke up on my own," Lina argues.

"Just shut up and eat. You'll be late for the bus," says Nathan.

Lina folds her arms and pouts. That girl is just too stubborn.

"Lina if you don't eat then you can forget having desert tonight," I threaten.

"What desert? The ice cream finished two days ago," says Lina.

"I was planning on baking brownies tonight. Which you are not getting if you don't finish your breakfast," I say as I pour myself some cereal.

Lina narrows her eyes then starts eating again.

After a few minutes I hear Nathan say, "Nia hurry up. We only have fifteen minutes left."

"Okay, okay!" I say as I throw my bowl into the sink. "Let's go!" I usher the kids to the front door. I grab the keys to my dad's car. Since my dad is out of town most of the times ,he barely uses it. So I use his car to go to school and run some errands.

"Lina, get in. I'll drop you at the bus stop," I say and she obeys.

After dropping off Lina at the bus stop we arrive at school just as the warning bell rings. Which gives us 5 minutes to get to our classes. I run to my locker to fetch my Calculus books then I run to my class. I enter and take a seat next to one of my best friends ,Sydney.
