George hesitated, still disorientated from when the man had grabbed him. Mike was holding up Eleven and struggling to run down the corridor until Lucas joined him, throwing El's arm over his shoulder.

"Shit," George heard Dustin mutter from beside him. They were both standing in the corridor, staring ahead at the Hawkins' Middle Cubs mascot painting on the wall. The bricks were starting to crumble and something, something that didn't quite look human, was breaking through.

"I think maybe we should run..." George whispered and Dustin nodded. They shared a look and took off running after Mike, Lucas and El.

They darted inside one of the science classrooms, George slamming the door behind him and Dustin blocking it shut with a table. Mike and Lucas set El down on a chair resting against a desk. She looked drained, completely drained. She could barely hold her head up.

The lights in the classroom began flickering. That thing was coming and El didn't have enough energy to fight it off.

Steve was still muttering to himself about how crazy the situation was but thankfully was preoccupied with making sure Nancy was okay after hitting her head so he didn't bother Nick again. She didn't give him much of an opportunity to, as soon as she realised the monster was no longer there, she stormed off outside, heading for her car.

"Hey!" Jonathan called, having followed her out, "Hey, where are you going?" he asked as Nick swung her car door open and threw the baseball bat in the back seat.

"I'm going to help my brother," she said, starting the engine and gripping the steering wheel with all her might in an attempt to calm her nerves before driving, "I don't know what happened to that- that thing. But if there's even the slightest chance he's in danger, I'm going to help him!" She said fiercely and slammed the door shut.

To her surprise, before she could drive off, Jonathan raced around to the other side of the car and got in the passenger side.

"Me too," Jonathan said firmly, shutting the door so as not to give Nick the opportunity to kick him out of her car, "My brother is in danger and there is nothing I won't do to save him. I'm coming too."

Nick smiled and tugged her seat belt across her.

"Good, cause I have no idea where he is," she laughed nervously making Jonathan smile.

"They're at the middle school," he explained, putting his seatbelt on too.

"Why?" Nick frowned and revved the engine, "No, don't answer, we don't have time." she said, putting the car in gear.

"Good call. Drive."

Nick didn't need to be told twice. She slammed her foot down on the gas pedal and sped off out of the drive, down the road and headed to the middle school to save their brothers, their brothers' weird friends and a girl they found in the woods who can control stuff with her mind.
