HOLY SHIT. SO OKAY.

shortly after i first posted velveteen, an INSANELY talented reader approached me via inbox to tell me she had been working on a song inspired by it, and finally she's granted me the absolute HONOUR of listening to it!!

her name is allison, and the song is simply titled "velveteen". i am so,,,,,,, OBSESSED,, just enamoured and enraptured by it that i don't quite have the words to do it justice- all i can say is that i'm extremely, extremely honoured that someone with such talent would use their skills to create something inspired by my writing. truly, truly, i can't thank her enough. the intro, the way she mixes this ambient tone throughout, how she adjusts pitch as if to mimic the joker's whispering— it's just BEAUTIFUL. it captures the feeling and the tone of the one-shot so well i'm amazed as to how she wasn't IN my head as i wrote it. and clearly, i don't know much of anything about the process of making music to convey how much i love this song in a comprehensive way, but just... ugh. i love this song. i love it so, so much. i'm beyond thankful and beyond happy.

i'm not sure how to share the link here on wattpad (due to the absolutely impossible-to-navigate format of both the app and desktop) but it's on soundcloud. type "allison j velveteen" and i believe it should be the first result.

and to allison who i believe might be reading, thank you, THANK YOU, so, so, SO much. this song makes me happy beyond any words. i love everything about it, and i'll cherish the hell out of it. be damn SURE that this is what i'm listening to whilst writing the next part. thank you thank you thank you!! i hope one day i'll be able to repay you for not only sharing your talent with me, but for your kindness and enjoyment of my work. <3

i'd also like to add that there WILL be a part 2 of sorts to velveteen, perhaps not a direct follow-up, but consider it set in the same "universe". same old joker 'love', same old darkness, same nastiness. he'll still break you, and you'll love him for it. i'm not sure whether to stick to the same grammar and punctuation style as the first, since i understand how hard it can be to read. either way, i'll try my best to publish it as soon as possible, maybe on ao3 and fanfiction, too. in the meantime, don't be surprised if velveteen gets a quick face-lift if i feel like editing and polishing it.
