Chapter 5

Harper's P.O.V

When I woke up, I was still on the couch wrapped in Brantley's arms. He was still sound asleep and snoring. I didn't want to wake him up, but I had the strong urge to pee. I slowly and carefully got up putting pillows where I laid. He didn't even budge. I quietly walked through the house trying to remember where the bathroom was. Finally I found it.
After doing my business I walked into the kitchen cause I was going to make breakfast for the both of us. As I was searching the fridge and cabinets for some type of food, only to be met with nothing, arms wrapped around me.
"What are you looking for?" His scruffy yet sexy morning voice questioned, sending chills up and done my spine.
"I was going to fix us breakfast, but you don't have any food." I responded turning around to him.
"I know. I just got bak in town. How about we go out for breakfast?"
"That sounds amazing. One slight problem, I don't have any other clothes."
"We'll stop by your place then."
"Okay."
Brantley went up to his room and changed, while I waited downstairs for him. About ten minutes later he came back down.
"Took you long enough." I teased.
"Yeah, yeah. Come on, lets goto your house so we can go eat." He said, while pulling me into his side leading me out to his truck and helping me in even though I didn't need it.
I told him how to get to my house. While he was driving, I zoned out, just thinking.
"What you thinking so hard about over there?" He questioned.
"Stuff. Life." Which wasn't a complete lie.
"What about life?"
"Just about how yesterday at this time I didn't even know that I was going to see you. I was just doing my job looking forward to a girls night with Audrey."
"You didn't know you were coming last night?"
"No, not until we left to head down there. Audrey surprised me. She's a huge fan by the way."
"Well I'm glad she surprised you. It made my job easier."
"What do you mean?"
"I was going to find you and try to get you to give me another chance."
"Really?"
"Yeah. Harper, I haven't been able to get over you. I tried moving on. I was engaged a lot of stuff happened between me and her but I walked away because I couldn't give her my heart knowing I still loved you."
"Oh, Brantley." I moved over to the middle of the truck so I could be closer to him.
I didn't want to break the comfortable silence but Brantley had pulled into my road.
"That's my house." I said, pointing out a small house with a large porch.
"Nice house." He noted.
"Thanks. I thought so. Plus, its close to my job."
"Where do you work?"
"The children's hospital in Athens. I'm a pediatric nurse."
"Using that big heart of yours for good."
"I love my job. I live those kids."
"I always knew you would work with kids, even before you did."
"I know, you always told me. Anyway come on in and make yourself at home. I'll only be a few minutes."
Brantley followed me in and my dog came up and checked B out.
"Wow. She must like you. She usually goes crazy around new people." I said to him.
"What can I say I have a charm no lady can resist." He replied smirking, while he continued to pet Pippa.
"If you don't mind, can you take her outside while I change?"
"Of course."
"Thank you." I gave him a small peck on the cheek before I headed to my room to change. I looked back at him right before I shut my door and he stood there shocked.
I quickly changed into a pair of skinny jeans and a Georgia shirt. I didn't want to take his hoodie off but I did, hanging it in my closet. I brushed through my hair putting a hair tie on my wrist. I slipped on some shoes and grabbed my phone before walking out to see Brantley sitting on the couch with Pippa curled around his neck. I took out my phone and snapped a picture. That will definitely be my wall paper in a few minutes.
"You ready?" I asked.
"Yeah, if I can get up." He answered. I walked into the kitchen and grabbed a treat and called her name and she came running.
"Ready now?" I laughed.
"Yeah." We walked out and he helped me into the truck once again. I took my phone out and changed my lock screen to Brantley and Pip.
"What did you do?" He asked.
"Just changed my wall paper." I said as I showed him. He smirked and we headed to the dinner with me sitting in the middle of the truck as his arm around me.
