Present

Tanya and Noreen held me tightly. Because they know at any moment I might runaway from this nonsense get together blah blah.

My body was shaking.

"Act normal Isabel." Noreen whispered.

Cristina looked in our way. She looks uneasy. Hindi siya makatingin ng deretso sa mata ko.

"Kalokohan to. I need to go." I said running my fingers through my hair.

"Isabel. Hanggang ngayon ba naman?" Noreen said. Starting to get angry.

"Hindi niyo kasi alam ang nararamdaman ko. Alam niyo naman ang nangyari dati diba?" I defended.

"But that was two years ago. And we were expecting you to move on."

"It was not easy. Sinaktan niya ako. Pinaglaruan niya ako."

"She had loved you but you never believed her. Tinaboy mo siya palayo sayo."

"Wait, are you taking her side?" The tension between us gets higher.

"Guys. Ano ba? This is not the right place to talk about that." Tanya said cutting the tension between us.

"I should go." I said.

"Isabel. Please, stay for a moment." Tanya pleaded.

I looked at Noreen. She gave me that 'Everything's will be alright' look. Then she held my hand tightly, reassuring me.

"Thank you."

***

Seeing Cristina with someone made me feel like hell. Incredibly hell.

Tanya caught me staring at Cristina and her boyfriend.

"He's Sebastien. 1 year na sila ni Cristina. After Lucy left, Sebastien was there. Sebastien was Cristina's childhood friend."

Lucy. That fucking piece of shit. She left Cristina?

Gusto ko pa sana magtanong pa tungkol kay Lucy but Noreen came with us na may dalang glass of champagne.

"Here. Cool down." She said.

I took the glass from her. "Noreen I'm so sorry. Happy Birthday again." I kissed her on the forehead. She smiled.

"You know, we're just concern. I know how you felt about what happened before. But friend, we're here for you. Don't forget that." She hugged me. I hugged her back.

"Tama na nga yan. Masyado nang madrama." Tanya's getting impatient na. We just laughed at her.

Flashback

I tapped my right foot on the ground. I was waiting for my boss' reaction on my novel. He was reading it now. I was getting impatient. My blood was rushing through my veins. You need to breath, Isabel. I thought to myself.

He closed the book and look directly at me. Hindi ko mabasa ang expression ng mukha niya.

I started to became nervous. Nag cross fingers ako.

"Very impressive, Miss Lobo." He said.

I felt my smile on my ears. "Thank you Sir."

"You can leave." He smiled at me for the first time.

The first person who came to my mind was Cristina. She helped me a lot. She gave me some point of view and helpful advice.

She deserves a reward. I immediately dialed her number.
