The second I walked in the door, Taylor started bombarding me with questions. "How did it go? Did they tell you anything? Did you get the part? Did you meet Ben? When do you find out if you got it? Do you want to get pizza for dinner?"

I rolled my eyes and put a finger to her lips. "Hush," I told her. "I think it was good, not really, I don't know, no, tomorrow, and yes."

I could see Taylor's brain going through all my answers. She suddenly perks up. "Yay, tomorrow, and yay, pizza!" She grabs my hand and drags me out the door.

We're riding the subway to our favorite pizza place, Blaze Pizza, when my phone dings with an email notification. Taylor completely loses it. "Omigosh, what if they sent it out a day early? Your future could be decided right here in this nasty subway car!" I slap her arm and she shuts up. I unlock my phone and press the mail icon. What if they did send it out a day early?

Dear Ms. Treul,

We were impressed by your performance today. We are wondering if you would be willing to go under consideration for the dance solo of Teen Winnie at the end of the musical. No further auditioning is needed for you to be considered of this role. Please notify us as soon as possible with your response.

Thank you,

Ashley Purnell and the Tuck Everlasting Team

Taylor squeals. "Omg! They loved you! You could get into ensemble and this!" I'm equally excited.

"I could! Holy crap!"

I type back my reply. Maybe my 18 years of dance lessons WAS good for me!

We finally arrive at Blaze Pizza and the line is L O N G. Taylor groans. "It's worth it for Blaze, though." She says.

We've been waiting in line for about 20 minutes talking about Tuck Everlasting the entire time when we finally get up to the front. "Hello! What can I get for you today?" The cheerful girl behind the counter asks. "Hi, I'll have one pizza with regular sauce, mozzarella, sausage, and pepperoni." I say. The girl nods and turns to Taylor.

"And for you?"

Taylor takes one last look at the menu before saying, "I'll have one with regular sauce, cheddar cheese, mushrooms, onions, black olives, and spinach." This girl likes her veggies.

We move through the line, pay for our food and drinks, and find a seat. Taylor takes a sip of her Pepsi and does what she does: starts talking. "So. When you first walked into the room, were you terrified?" I point at her with the straw of my lemonade.

"Very." I start to explain myself but I hear a sound like someone clearing their throat and then a:

"Excuse me."

I look up into the blue eyes of Benjamin Tyler Cook himself. Taylor's mouth drops open and then closes.

"Myself and my friend were standing behind you in line, and we overheard you talking about auditioning for Tuck Everlasting. Were you by any chance talking about the Broadway revival?"

I was suddenly very thankful we weren't fangirling about him while were in the line.

I somehow regain myself. "Oh! Yes. I'm auditioning for the ensemble and Teen Winnie." I point at Taylor. "She works at a mall and has no musical talent." Ben laughs.

"That's super cool! I was in the ensemble for the first time it was on Broadway and now I play Jesse Tuck."

Yes. I know.

"Oh that's cool! If I get in then I'll probably be seeing you around!" I laugh nervously. Ben gives me a half smile.

"Yeah, we'll see. See you then, maybe. I should get back to my friend." He gestures to the other side of the room. "Nice meeting you."

"Yeah. You too." I smile and give him an awkward little wave as he walks away.

I face forward again and Taylor's staring at me with wide eyes. "Holy. Crap."

I just met Ben Tyler Cook. And he is A LOT cuter in person. This may be an issue if I end up working with him.

AUTHORS CORNER 🦕

Blaze Pizza is my favorite pizza place where I'm from so that's why I put it in there lol.

Also I really wanted Ben to make an appearance so he's just in this a little bit for now but he'll be in it more in later chapters I promise duh this is his fanfic haha.

Sorry that this is kind of boring and short. I think maybe one more chapter and then we'll get to more Ben and more Broadway.
