sunbeams shone through sokka's blinds, his cornflower optics widened in realization. he grabbed his phone from his nightstand, today is the first day of summer, the season to pass the time with his girlfriend.
skipping breakfast because his love for her is stronger than his love for meat. he ran his way to her house. that's when he saw the red car was packed with suki's baggage.
sokka's daydream about his dates on a summer evening with suki shattered once he saw the car.
"hey, princess! what's happening?" sokka asked the brunette. she glanced at the male who looked obviously bitter. suki wondered if sokka ever got her text.
"sokka, i told you that i will go to the kyoshi summer camp, remember? i told you at the beginning of our relationship. it's every summer thing." suki answered, twisting the red scrunchie on her wrist.
sokka's face fell. "b-but, princess! the dates we planned!"
suki's coffee eyes softened at her boyfriend's distress as she gave him a apologetic smile.
"i'm sorry, sokka. but—" she looked at her parents who gestured to the car. her father tapping on his watch. —"i have to go." she patted his head.
"goodbye, princess. i love you ." he said, hugging her for the last time. she smiled,
"i love(d) you too."
but that last 'i love you' sounded more like a goodbye than a genuine one.
