Merlins POV
I looked up to the person who I bumped into, to see Gwaines smiling face. "Why hello there Merlin," he said grinning like an idiot. He was still in his armer from the meeting."Hey Gwaine. So are you going to be going to battle the Groc or are you going to stay and get wasted tonight?" I asked jokingly as I lay my back up against the wall.
He laugh along with me and settled on a small smile. "I'm going with Arthur and the other knights to defeat it. What would they do without me? I'm the star of the show!" He said proudly and he gave one of those smiles people do when they are trying to impress someone.
I just roll my eyes at his stupidity. I placed my hand on his shoulder without leaving the wall. "Sorry Gwaine you won't be the star because I'll be there," I say and smirk knowing what he'll do. He'll just laugh and say how weak I am and that he or someone else will save me from getting hit. Typical.
"What? You're not going, it's to dangerous. You'll end up hurt or worse," he said looking confused and concerned. 'What the hell? When has he ever stopped me from going on any other quest?'
"Um Gwaine, I can look after myself. I've survived this long," I joked but I was happy he was concerned with my safety. "Anyways when do I ever do as I'm told," I laugh.
One moment he's next to me, and the next he has both his hands either side of my head and his face centimetres from mine. I could feel his breath on my face, his eyes showed determination and concern. "Merlin, this beast is extremely dangerous and has magic, you know this, you seen it with your own two eyes. I won't see you get hurt. You're not going and that's final."
I was beyond annoyed! How can he think I'll get hurt? I've been through more than he knows. "Look Gwaine, I know you're concerned with my safety and all, but I can handle myself! I beat you in our fight didn't I?" I wanted him to know that I can handle myself and not have to rely on others.
"Damn it Merlin! stop being stubborn for once and listen to me! Please." He banged his right fist to the wall, which must of hurt.
I could the hurt and pain in his eyes, 'he really dose just want me to be safe doesn't he?' His bottom lip trembled slightly. "I need to be there for Arthur," I say standing my ground.
"Arthur has us, there are many of us! But there's only one of you. Stop risking your life for such a stupid reason! Why is Arthur more important to you than your own safety?! You risk your life time and again by coming with us!" This was the first time I heard him yell like that. His voice was filled with frustration, anger, sorrow and confusion. He placed his left hand on my face.
"Gwaine it's my job to be there for Arthur! Not as his manservant, but as his friend! I can't let him go with out me," I said to him. This was the first time I yelled in the argument, which he proceeded to remove his hands from the wall to his side. I stood up off the wall, I tuned to leave when Gwaine grabbed my hand and pulled me into a hug. His arms around my mid torso.
"Please, don't go. You are my best friend I don't want to lose you. Not ever. So please listen to me."
I sighed. "Fine I won't go, I'll stay here," I tell him. He doesn't let go but grips me a bit tighter. I finally rap my arms around him as well. I could feel him sigh into my shoulder.
"Thank you," he said while we held each other in a tight embrace. I felt a blush creep on my face at how close we were. Than this felling in my stomach arose. I wasn't sure what it was, but decided to ignore it for now.
Gwaines POV
I was relieved that he said he was going to stay here while we deal with the Groc. His voice soothed my worries the way he said it. I wanted to snuggle my face in his neck and stay like that but remembered I had to get ready for the battle.
