"Alright. Let's go then, lads." Charlotte muttered to herself, pulling the car over quickly before grabbing her handgun and axe.

The guy that was surrounded by walkers started to get verbal, dropping profanities left and right.

"Shit." He yelled, backed up against a tree. Charlotte walked closer, the dust on the ground coating her shoes in a dull red.

"Hey! Fuckface!" Charlotte yelled, cocking her gun before pulling the trigger three times. Three walkers dropped dead, a bullet right in the middle of their foreheads.

"Ugh, you guys are so slow." She laughed, walking towards the other two infected with her axe in hand. With one hit to the chest, the walker stumbled back and fell, not completely dead yet. Just to make sure, Charlotte swung her axe and decapitated it. The other infected was still groaning and walking slowly towards her, so with one clean hit, she had decapitated that one as well.

"Oh my god." The man muttered in a strong British accent, "That was so hot."

Charlotte couldn't help but laugh, turning around to go back to her car.

"Thanks." She laughed, rolling her eyes.

"Hey! Are you by yourself?" The man asked, making her turn around. Charlotte just nodded and started turning back to her car again.

"Do you want to come with me?" He asked desperately, almost as if he was begging.

"I don't know... I'm used to being by myself." Charlotte shrugged. She would usually say no straight away, but there was something about him that she just couldn't say no to.

"At least drive me back to where I'm supposed to be and you can think on the way. Just stay one night with me and I promise you won't want to leave." He winked at her, a smirk crossing his face. Charlotte's face scrunched into a grimace.

"Gross. But fine. One night and that's all."

He grinned and ran to the other side of the car, jumping in the passenger seat. As Charlotte started to drive off, he tried to start a conversation.

"I'm Ryan by the way. Well, everyone calls me Baz because there's another Ryan... so, I'm Baz. And you are?"

"Charlotte."

"Ooh, Charlotte. Pretty name for a pretty lady." He smiled, leaning a little closer. Charlotte looked straight ahead and tried to hold back her grin. No one had talked to her like that in years.

"Is this it?" Charlotte asked, pulling up to a ranch-looking place. A very big house sat on top of a hill, with acres of land around it. Plenty of trees, perfect for practice. It was away from the rest of the world, and you wouldn't know it was there if you didn't know what you were looking for.

"This is it. Thank you, m'lady. Welcome to the ranch."

"How many other people are here?" Charlotte asked, turning off the engine after she pulled into a garage.

"Not many. But we're good at defending ourselves. We're gamers." He laughed, opening the car door.

Charlotte paused...

"We're gamers."

That's what Ryan used to say. Did he have some connection with Ryan? Is that why she felt a connection to him?

Charlotte shook her head and got out of the car, grabbing a small bag of her belongings that she could take in. As she turned to walk towards Baz, he smiled at her before grabbing a key to unlock the door.

"Hey boys! Come and meet my saviour!" He yelled out as they walked in. It was a nice spacious house. Wooden floorboards, brick walls and a very warm and welcoming atmosphere. It was very spacious house, with many rooms.

"Baz, who's this?" A tall man with black and green hair stepped out from behind a wall. His piercing blue eyes stood out as he walked a little closer to Charlotte.

"Has Baz got a girlfriend?" A heavy British accent echoed throughout the room, and a black haired guy ran out from where the other guy did.

"Ooh I knew my Bazzy boy would fall in love soon!" Another guy with a heavy Scottish accent came out after the other two, and they stood in a line, smiling at Charlotte and Baz.

"Guys! She's not my girlfriend! Not yet anyway. I only met her an hour ago. This is Charlotte, and she saved my life." Baz explained, motioning to her. She shook her head before she waved waved and smiled at the three boys.

"I'm Will, this is Lewis, and this is Rhys." The guy with black hair and a green fringe smiled and motioned to the other boys.

"Is this all of you?" Charlotte asked, looking at each of the three men in front of her.

"Nah, there's another one, he'll be out in a minute. Come and sit down, I'll put the kettle on." Rhys smiled, motioning her to their kitchen bench. Charlotte slowly walked around and was preparing to sit down when Lewis interrupted.

"Wait, you don't have any bite marks do you?" He asked, grabbing Charlotte's arm.

"Oh we forgot to inspect. Come over here." Rhys motioned her over and Charlotte gladly put her arms and legs out so he could inspect. After a good two minutes of searching, he pulled the collar of her shirt back and looked at her neck. Charlotte held her breath and looked away, not wanting this to be any more intimate than what it was.

"Okay, I trust you enough because you saved my boy, but just because you're new doesn't mean we're gonna let you off the hook."

Charlotte nodded and sat down at the bench. At that moment. The other guy walked from behind the corner, away from where Charlotte was facing. He didn't notice that the girl was sitting there at first, but when he did, his face lit up.

"Charlotte?" He squeaked, dropping his things. Charlotte turned abruptly and made eye contact with him.

"Oh my god, Ryan." She sighed, running towards the British gamer. They both embraced each other, holding on tight with no intention of letting go anytime soon.

"I thought you were dead." He exclaimed, tears streaming down his cheeks.

"Same here. We were so worried about you, Ryan." Charlotte sobbed, as Ryan kissed her cheek and buried his face back in her neck.

"I'm so sorry. I should have come back for you. How's your dad?" Ryan asked.

Charlotte moved her hands to the back of his neck and stepped back, keeping eye contact. Ryan's expression dropped as he searched her face, desperately looking for an answer.

"I, uh. He's fine." She answered, her expression going dark. Ryan nodded, patting her on the back before sitting down at the kitchen bench where Rhys had set down tea for everyone.

"I'm sorry, what is this? Do you two know each other?" Rhys asked, pointing at Charlotte and Ryan.

"No we just met." Charlotte said with a straight face, "I'm kidding. We're cousins."

Ryan nodded and sipped at his tea as the boys looked at each other. If she was just like Ryan, this could get a whole lot better.

Baz bit his lip as he watched Charlotte slowly sip the tea. He was glad that she rescued him. She was something else, that's for sure, at least that's what Baz thought. He smiled as he thought of what could possibly happen in the future...
