How It Happened (Kind Of)

We were listing. The damn shots they fired at us may not have been enough to sink our ship, seeing as they were shots filled with random shit like cutlery, but it was still enough to slow us down, and it was halfway through the next day and we still had not reached our destination.

The crew of the Interceptor were becoming antsy from their spots tied to the mast, and my crew was becoming restless, with wanting this curse to be broken. I was watching from the wheel as my men cleaned up the mess left on the deck from where the mast of the Interceptor struck when I caught the conversation between Will Turner and Pintel, Ragetti and Mr. Gibbs.

"You knew William Turner?" Pintel was staring up at the boy-man, from where he was scrubbing the deck on his knees, and he finally nodded, sitting back on his haunches.

"Ol' Bootstrap Bill? We knew him. Never sat well with Bootstrap what we did to Jack Sparrow, the mutiny and all, and didn't like that we kept Captain Raven out of it. He said it wasn't right with the Code. That's why he sent of a piece of the treasure to you as it were. He said we deserved to be cursed. And remain cursed." Pintel explained, glancing up at me to make sure I wasn't listening, and I quickly averted my eyes so he wouldn't know I was.

"Stupid blighter." Ragetti hissed, and I rolled my eyes.

"Good man." Mr. Gibbs contradicted and I let a small smile climb on my face.

"Well, as you can imagine that didn't sit too well with the Captain." Pintel explained more, and Will cut him off.

"Captain Raven?"

"No. Barbossa was the Captain then. And it didn't sit too well with the Captain at all. Tell him what Barbossa did." Ragetti cut in, and Pintel smacked him harshly on the shoulder.

"I'm telling the story! So, what the Captain did, he strapped a cannon to Bootstraps' bootstraps!" Pintel started to giggle, and Ragetti joined in, mimicking him and saying 'Bootstraps' bootstraps' in a silly voice before giggling some more.

"The last we saw of ol' Bill Turner, he was sinking to the crushing black oblivion of Davy Jones' Locker. 'Course, it was only after that, when Captain Raven took over, that we learned we needed his blood to lift the curse."

"That's what you call ironic." Ragetti chimed into Pintel's story yet again, and Pintel rolled his eyes as Will stared between the both of them. When I realized they were done talking, I glanced up and realized we were within rowing distance (finally) from the Island, and it was finally time for the main event.

I drew my sword, taking quick steps down the steps and advancing on Will Turner's now very stricken looking form. One quick swipe and the ropes fell away, leaving him standing there, staring down at me.

"Bring him. Let's go." I said, sheathing my sword and turning to the boats, hearing a quiet scramble behind me, knowing that the boys grabbed the man and we would be on our way soon.

But, as I stepped onto the boat, one foot in, the other gripped firmly to the wood of my ship, I stopped, and turned to look at Bo'sun who was right behind me.

"Fetch Barbossa. We finish this tonight."
