My Guardian

“No, please, Astrid, wait!” Astrid paid no attention to the auburn haired chief chasing after her. He picked up his pace and was able to grab Astrid’s hand.

“No!” she protested, trying to wriggle her hand from his grip. “Get away from me; I hate you!” Hiccup tightened his grip on her and shook his head.

“Please, listen,” he begged her, gazing at her ocean blue eyes. She found herself being mesmerized by them, but she cut off her stare.

“No!” she balked. “I know you love that Merida girl; heck, you kissed her on the lips! I brushed it off, but then I caught you two, in bed! And we’re freaking married, you jerk!”

“Come on, Astrid,” he said. He crashed his lips on hers, but she pulled away. A cold blast of wind then knocked Hiccup down onto his knees, and Astrid took that moment to run. She ran off to the other side of Berk, and she found herself sitting by a cliff.

“Thanks, Jack,” she murmured against the cold wind that blew. She heard a chuckle and she smiled, looked up, and saw him. Pale hair, blue eyes and a playful smirk graced her sight, and she found herself in peace.

“Your husband is quite a jerk; perhaps you married him so soon,” he said, sitting next to her.

“Yeah, and that’s something I regret. It turns out his true love is Merida. And I should have stuck to being a shield maiden.”

Jack’s eyes narrowed and he placed a cold hand on her shoulder. The cold was shocking, but it was also inviting. She leaned into his touch. “Astrid, listen to me,” he began, “there is someone out there who loves you with all his heart; you just have to see.”

“I don’t think so,” she replied.

Jack huffed, and held her chin up with a cold finger. He leaned in closer and said, “Trust me; there is a guy.”

Astrid found herself staring into his icy blue eyes as he leaned in closer and closer, their faces centimeters apart. Then, she felt cold lips brush against hers ever so slightly. She knew it was a question. She answered it and let his lips grace hers in a kiss. A cold sensation ran through her, making her shiver in a good way. The kiss sent a chill down her spine and she smiled against his lips. Jack kissing her was such a great feeling, even if she didn’t kiss back.

When he pulled away, she said, “You.”

He nodded and smiled. Astrid laughed and hugged him. “How could I have been so blind?”

Jack laughed and pulled her closer, knowing she enjoyed his coldness. When she pulled away, he graced her lips in a kiss once more.

And this time, she kissed back.
