//Note: LOTS and LOTS of cute fluffy uwu events in the next chapter, so this chapter is a bit more on the depressing side. The next one is very cute tho! (Maybe.......brett with kids???) (you might want to enjoy it before Mr. Perfect Pitch comes along) 😉//

Just like any other day, Brett yang entered the bakery. The sweet fragrance of sugar and icing filled his nose as the familiar sight greeted him. His sigh of pleasure could be heard across the bakery, and his steps were slow as he walked to the kitchen.

The tables to the right of the door were filled with early sweet tooths, and the lines at the counter were simply overflowing.

See, one could say that the Yang Bakery was famous.

The baked goods were known across Brisbane, and people came from around the world just to get a single croissant.

But why? What could be so special about a small cozy bakery tucked into the streets?

The special was Brett Yang. He was one of the most talented pastry chefs in the world. His cakes took you to heaven. His cookies were better than anything the cookie monster had ever tasted.

Brett reached the counter, and smiled at Ray, the cashier. Ray was a good friend of his. They had known each other since they were 4 years old, before the Yang family rose to fame and Brett became into the baker he was now.

Ray had always had a soft spot for Brett's cupcakes. So when Brett's longtime cashier decided to move to the US-leaving the bakery with no cashier- all it took was a few of Brett's Vanilla Delights, and POOF- Ray was sold.

Ray loved working at the bakery and meeting new people everyday, but recently his grandmother had been sick, and he would have to go to her soon. Which also meant the Bakery would be left with no cashier. Again.

Ray would be gone for 3 weeks, and that was barely enough time to hire a new cashier, as well as train them. So, Brett would be taking over.

Brett was excited, yet he knew that balancing baking with being a cashier would be hard. Nonetheless, being the owner of the Bakery, he had stepped up to the job.

"Hey Brett! How's my favorite baker?" Ray asked with a smirk. He loved teasing Brett.

When Brett didn't reply and continued to chew on his lip, Ray sighed.

"Come on Brett, I'm sure you'll be fine. I know you'll be replacing the greatest cashier in the world," At this, he paused and and raised his chin, as well has straightened his back- "which I know is very stressing, but you can't be too bad can you?" Ray asked, feigning an innocent smile.

Brett continued to chew on his lip, deep in thought.

"Brett! Dude! Wake up!" Ray shouted.

A few customers looked up at the loud noise, then resumed with whatever they were doing before they were interrupted by Ray's antics.

"Huh? What? Me?" Brett mumbled.

"Yes, you, Mr.Daydreamer. Come on, you have to learn how to control everything before I leave, right?" Ray urged, with a hasty glance at the cake shaped clock above one of the tables.

"Mmhmm. Yeah." Brett murmured, still lost in his thoughts.

Ray sighed, for what felt like the 26th time that day. What was wrong with his friend? Brett was never this way.

"Earth to Brett?" Ray very loudly whispered, waving a hand in front of Brett's face.

When he got no reply, he sighed again.

"Hello? Is anyone home?" Ray asked, knocking on Brett's head.

"Ow!" Brett yelped. "What happened? Did the cakes burn? Did your grandma die?" Brett asked while rubbing his head.

"No, no, you doofus. I was just going to show you how to ring up a customer's order." Ray said, rolling his eyes.

"Oh. Sorry Ray, I'm just really distracted today." Brett replied with an apologetic smile.

"I noticed." Ray snapped.

When Brett lowered his head, Ray felt bad for snapping. Everybody had off days. It wasn't Brett's fault.

"Hey, Brett look at me. It's perfectly fine, ok? Just try to focus. Sorry for snapping." Ray apologized quickly.

"No, no. It's not your fault. Here, I'll listen, I promise." Brett replied with a frown.
