He was at the highest levels of the theater, scanning for any signs of La Belle Dame's ghost. All the others had been witness to at least some of her antics, but Lockwood himself had been exempt from her charade tonight. This had left him in a rather aggravated state, and he found himself putting more effort than normal to maintain his usual calm. He busied himself with observing the ornate gold leaf patterns on the walls and roof. He soon found himself at a small balcony, probably one of the VIP seats in the theater. Layers of mahogany-colored curtains encroached the space; with an elegant flourish, he undid the golden rope. Behind the curtains stood a set of double doors with glass panes set in them. He could see the moonlight radiating from outside onto the velvety cushions in the balcony. Lockwood looked out the glass and gazed at the picturesque view of the city in the halo of the moon's light. From up in the balcony, there was a wonderful view of the stage, as well. "I could find myself spending a few hours here with Lucy," he thought. His mind looped back to what he had told his sister, back in her room, several years ago.
