He hummed softly along to the lyrics, making sure to keep his voice as quiet as possible so as to not bother his best friends. Call him what you want, but the music he'd had on loop did actually 'resonate' with him, in a sense. Sapnap had always wanted to be famous, ever since he was a kid. Of course, that does happen to be most people's dreams at a young age- except he stuck to it. He and Dream had met when they were 12 and 13, respectively, and they were quite close until the both of them had met George. With that friendship, Sapnap was often left out quite a bit; until the day that Dream had discovered the cuts on his wrist. For some odd reason, afterwards they'd always try their best to include him in basically everything. 

And he was happy, for some time.

But then YouTube happened, and it happened again. He was constantly left out, always belittled and ignored. Nothing would ever be about him, it was always "Dream and George". Never "Dream and Sapnap", not "Sapnap and George", not "the Dreamteam". It was always just the two of them.

But why was he complaining? He had gotten everything he wanted, hadn't he? ..Yeah, no.

Some days, he wonders what it would be like if they hadn't become popular. If they were just normal people, living normal lives. Would it all be the same? Would they have ignored and brushed him aside? Maybe. He wouldn't know, though. 

Other days, he wonders what it'd be like if he didn't exist.

If he wasn't here.

Well, nothing would change, he tells himself.

Nobody would care.

Nobody had ever cared.

"Sapnap? Are you ok?" Dream's voice comes floating in through the doorway, which, of course, startles him. "You've been in your room for a really long time, and-" His voice cuts off when he notices what Sapnap looked like. With his tearstained face, messy hair and untucked shirt, it was an alarming sight to see- considering that Dream hadn't seen this since the day that he'd first found out about his best friend cutting. "Sap..?" "..Oh. Hey..?" "Are you ok, Sap?" "..M'fine."

"You're lying to me, aren't you?" The younger boy slumped further into his bed. "No..?" "I've known you for 7 years now, Sapnap. I can tell when you're not being honest to me." Feeling more tears prick at his eyes, he manages to force out a weak,"..But why would you care?" He'd hoped that Dream hadn't heard, but once he feels a pair of arms wrapping around his shoulders, he realizes that Dream noticed his response. 

"You're my best friend, Sapnap. George's too, even if he's not good at showing it. We love and care for you, Sap. So, so damn much. Never, ever forget that you're worth something, ok?" He's crying harder now, but it's happy tears this time around. He sobs into the crook of the taller boy's neck, smiling all the while. And when George enters the room, bearing an armful of pastries and desserts, he feels content.

He was cared for, he'd realized.

It would be hard to get better, but he'd manage it with them by his side.
