"it was the night before selphie's birthday, and her friends decided to throw her a surprise party. 'i'll bring lots of cake and desserts!' quistis announced excitedly. after some talking, they agreed that zell would bring balloons, squall would bring party hats, and irvine would bring presents. 'i still don't know what to bring', rinoa said with a sigh. quistis gave her a small hug. 'it's ok, i'm sure you'll figure something out'.
the next morning all the friends gathered outside selphie's dorm, about to execute their plan. 'where's rinoa?' quistis asked. 'she told me she'd be late', squall said with an aggravated sigh. they decided to start without her, not knowing when she'd show up. they snuck in to her dorm with all their gifts and started setting up.
zell taped balloons all over the ceiling, even covering the lights in some places. irvine hid present boxes all around the room, sometimes even forgetting where he placed them. quistis set up all her desserts on the table, and squall put the party hats surrounding them. after a half hour, they decided it was ready. but they were still missing something- rinoa.
the four friends sat on the couch and admired their hard work, and suddenly heard footsteps coming from selphie's bedroom. 'quick everyone, hide!'. squall and zell his behind the couch, irvine hid behind a chair, and quistis crawled under the table. soon they heard the bedroom door open, and all jumped out at once. 'surprise!'.
they emerged in a group hug, as selphie realized one of her friends was missing. 'where's rinoa?'. squall opened his mouth to answer, but before he could, the dorm room door opened and rinoa came skipping in. she joined the group hug and whispered, 'your present is outside'.
selphie followed rinoa to the door as the other four looked at each other and shrugged. they soon caught up to the girls, and the six of them were standing on the lawn. 'sooooo?' selphie impatiently asked. 'don't worry, it's coming.'
before long, they all heard a train whistle. zell jumped in surprise, not expecting the loud noise. soon a train came around the corner, and stopped in front of the yard. that wasn't even the most shocking part, because as the driver stepped out, they realized it was seifer. rinoa giggled at the sight of him with a train hat on. 'shut up', he hissed at her before looking at the rest of the group. 'get on!'.
selphie was the first of course, running around inspecting every little thing. 'oh my gosh oh my gosh oh my gosh!!' she kept jumping with excitement as the friends couldn't help but smile while watching. she pulled them into a group hug. 'i love you guys', she said, resting her head on irvine's shoulder. he blushed as the others embraced the warm hug."
