At first, the only thing visible in the deep darkness, was a widely opened maw with few rows of canines inside covered in blood. Crimson started dripping from the front ones onto the ground, the splashy sound was steadily filling the room.
Then it was also a pair of weird eyes. A one cat-like pupil accompanied by a yellow glowing iris was staring at him with hunger. Second eye seemed to be damaged by cataract, looking like a condensed fog, but still glistened only a bit weaker than the first one.
"Fear. It is eating you from the inside, isn't it?" A deep growl somehow made the air vibrate, coming from the maw that was not even moving, still being wide open. Wooyoung was breathing heavily, waves of cold shivers were painfully coming through his whole body.
"I can feel how disgustingly corrupted you are. Poor thing." air vibrated again as the creature spoke, this time maw curled in a horrifying, impossibly broad smile. Seonghwa felt weaker with each second passing by, he could no longer hear the blood drops hitting the ground.
It was only the next terrifying nightmare torturing his mind, but it felt so real. His body felt real, incredibly fast heartbeat nearly breaking his ribs felt real, cold air piercing his skin like a shattered ice felt real. Too realistic to be only a simple nightmare.
"That's good. The more fear, the more tasty prey becomes." Again maw didn't change it's creepy shape, smile sticked to it even though a vibrant growl escaped it's depth. It moved an inch forward, about to reveal it's owner. Seonghwa was ready to see what the demon looks like, his eyes wide open in panic. However, at the exact moment bloody canines started closing the distance between them, he felt how everything starts to dissociate. The uncomfortable freezing cold welcomed him again, as he felt like he is floating in a pitch black never ending descent.
His own scream woke him up again, pecks of hair sticked to his forehead because of the cold, fearful sweat. He rubbed his face with the trembling hands, burying it in them. The same reaction as previously, but this time everything was horrific, not only the moment of waking up. It was extremely tiring, Seonghwa felt awfully exhausted. Why was it happening to him?
He turned around to check if Yeosang is still there. Unfortunately he was nowhere to be found. Taking a quick glimpse around the bedroom, Seonghwa sit straight on the bed and sunk into the silence around him.
Where Yeosang went? It was only 5 AM, so it was doubtful that Yeo just casually went back to his apartment. Even tough Hwa was still not really sympathetic towards his ex boyfriend, he needed a company now. Getting out of bed, he felt how soft his knees were. It seemed like these weird dreams were stealing energy from his organism, despite the fact he was asleep for fine amount of hours.
Ignoring the weak condition of his body, Seonghwa directed the slow steps towards the kitchen. Going through the living room, he checked if Yeo is not here either. Sadly, it seemed like he seriously left in the middle of the night which is weird, but Yeosang's behavior was sometimes so ridiculous and unexpected, that Hwa wasn't even trying to question his actions.
Making a strong, black coffee and sitting on the couch, he stayed in his thoughts for three hours straight. The rest of the drink in the mug already got cold, so Hwa placed it on the table carelessly. He still wanted to talk to Yeosang, but he just left without saying anything. Well, not the first time tough.
Deciding to call Yeo, he got up and looked onto the scenery of the morning city, that was slowly waking up again. It was amazing to see how night life began to switch into the day routine. In the city like Seoul there was always something going on, no matter the hour.
Yeosang did not pick up the call. A sigh of disappointment left Seonghwa's lips, it was very important for him to finish the discussion about the first dream and also describe that second one that had place after Yeo took him to the bedroom.
"Maybe I should call Wooyoung instead?..." he whispered to himself, checking if he still has Woo's number. Relieved by seeing it's still there, he held his breath, praying for the guy to answer his call.
"Uhmm Seonghwa? What's going on? You have never called me like that since you broke up with Yeo..." hearing Wooyoung on the other side, Seonghwa widely opened his eyes in surprise.
"Oh okay okay you there thank god! I know uhh... I... it's actually about him... do you know where he is?" it was weird to ask that after all the time that passed and after how the break up looked like. What's more, asking about the same exact thing that cause the break up.
"I am not really sure Hwa, I thought he is at your place all this time." Woo's tone became slightly concerned, same as Seonghwa's thoughts. Where the fuck was Kang Yeosang?
"Okay, I won't waste your time then—"
"NO WAIT SEONGHWA! WHERE IS YE—"
"Bye I have to go." Seonghwa cut Woo in the middle of the sentence, not even trying to listen to him anymore and just ended a call. Looking at the screen going dark and staring at his reflection in it, Hwa took the jacket that was hanging next to the door and went out of the apartment. He had to find out what happened to Yeo on his own. Involving Wooyoung into that would only cause unnecessary chaos. He preferred to figure everything out alone, then inform the others.
Reaching Yeosang's apartment, Hwa was praying to meet him there. All healthy and safe, willing to talk to him about the dreams again. Once he knocked on the door, it just opened with a quiet screech.
"Wait... what." Seonghwa furrowed his brows and gently pushed the door wide open, then came inside the apartment. Everything was at it's place, untouched and clean. Going around the rooms, Seonghwa hasn't noticed anything strange. It seemed like Yeosang just left to him and didn't even come back. No evidence, not even a single hint for where he could be gone.
"Fucking great!" Hwa sarcastically snorted, sitting on the couch in the living room and looking at the opened front door. What the hell was happening there? First dreams, now Yeosang is gone after having the same one as he had. On top of that he had weird hallucinations and Yeo was putting him to sleep prior to vanishing into the unknown.
He raised his brow once he heard someone running down the corridor, in the direction of the apartment. Seconds later, he saw Wooyoung literally bumping into the door and getting inside, struggling to catch a breath.
"OH SHIT! You scared me Hwa!" he yelled, giving Seonghwa a surprised look.
"Well, what else you expected me to do. Sit and wait for Yeo to magically appear somewhere?" Hwa got up with a blank expression on his face. Woo stood straight letting go of the door, then came inside closing it behind the back.
"I mean, I did not expect you to come to his apartment. What is going on Seonghwa? You aren't okay, are you?" the concern in his voice made Hwa roll his eyes and snort. It was not the right time to expose everything that happened in the past days, but he had to. Even tough Wooyoung wasn't the one he could fully trust.
"If I was fine, I wouldn't ask you about Yeosang right." Hwa loudly exhaled and sit back on the couch again, making a space for Wooyoung next to him.
"No intention in pressuring you to say anything—"
"Stop Wooyoung, I am not a crybaby." Seonghwa was always getting irritated once someone was careful with asking him stuff. It was like assuming that he is too weak to talk about the serious issues. "Two days ago I had a weird dream. It was quite pleasant not gonna lie, white enlightened chamber, guy playing a piano... actually Yeosang playing the piano." Wooyoung looked at the black-haired slightly raising a brow. It was exactly where the whole thing was getting started.
"Yes Woo I know. But okay whatever, going further, I woke up once he came close to me. Then, the exact moment I woke up after descending into some weird abyss, Yeosang called me. Isn't that weird? After whole ass year when he was nowhere to be found? Not to be picky, but also at 3 am? Odd." Giving Wooyoung a short break to process the whole info he just received, Seonghwa continued. "He said he is sorry for bothering me that late and asked about the dream. Same exact dream! We both were in the same dream Wooyoung, can you imagine that?" Hwa's face expression was showing both confusion and some kind of fear, Wooyoung couldn't clearly tell what emotions he felt that moment.
"I mean... this is impossible Seonghwa. But I will believe you, since Yeosang is now missing anyway... technically, again." He sighed, running fingers through the hair. It was all some sci-fi bullshit he did not expect. However, Seonghwa looked like he is truly freaked out so it was possibly a legit thing.
"Yeah, I also have to show you something... but it is in my apartment so if you could go there with me, it would be cool." Seonghwa got up and directed the steps towards the front door. There was nothing more to do in here, except sitting and blankly staring at the walls. They had to take some actions if they wanted to find out where Yeosang disappeared.
"Wait wait! What's that THING you want to show me?" Woo rushed after the black-haired, who turned around while already holding a door handle.
"Uhh... it's... well, a strange old book. A black stone in the middle of the cover, metal ornaments and shi—"
"Like that one?" Woo pointed in the direction of the shelf under the table that stood in the living room. Seonghwa darted towards it, his eyes wide open in fear that was quickly raising inside him. This fucking book was really there all this time and they haven't even noticed.
"I—I thought that there is only one book like that." Seonghwa took the book with trembling hands and flipped it over several times to check if that's really the one he has. What shocked him even more, it possibly was the actual one he had in his house. Yeosang just casually took it and went out at night while he was asleep? Why the heck would he do that, he knew basically nothing about the book. Furthermore, he lowkey stole it.
"Well, it seems like there is either more of these, or Yeosang took it from you. I would stand by the second option." Wooyoung peeked at the book over Seonghwa's arm, but black-haired took few steps forward and sit on the couch.
"We have a lot to discuss now Wooyoung. Sit down please." His oddly steady voice creeped Wooyoung out a bit, but he obeyed and sat next to Seonghwa.
How little did they know, that Yeosang was in the same room all the time. Helplessly trying to catch their attention by screaming and hectically waving his hands. Although, in the another dimension.
