Playing around with stuff
We also lost our first chicken to something but we're not sure what. We're actually completely and utterly stumped as to what took, and or killed, our poor chicken (Emu).
We looked up common chicken predators in our area and none of the ways the something took our chicken match up, AT ALL.
Plus, the something only took one chicken - the hardest one to catch and pick up at that - even when the smaller "runt" chickies we're outside as well.
And the chicken taken is the abSOLUTE LOUDEST chicken we have, and we didn't hear a thing.
AND a few of our WOOD STAPLES were broken with the like plastic mesh fence. And wood staples ARE REALLY HARD TO BREAK NO JOKE. I doubt even I could break them.
Currently my solution is that she was stolen by a human (adult). There was no feathers, or any evidence besides the fact that she was missing, the plastic mesh and staples broken, and that all of the chickens were huddled up together.
