Two days later. After doing nothing but trying and failing to sleep, she got up and signed her discharge papers (Against everyone's judgement, because apparently doctors like to keep you for medical observation and junk like that), she was headed to tell the others that she was leaving. When she walked up to the nurses' station she asked where Jordan, Drew, TC, and Topher were, a nurse said that they were in the locker room. She then walked to the locker room, but when she got there she saw a bunch of exhausted doctors lying down anywhere they could. Once asked saw this she did what anyone would do, she screamed," Get up!" to which jumped up and looked at her. "What I couldn't go without saying goodbye, and y'all needed to get up before somebody pranked y'all."
"Ok she might actually have a good point there," Jordan laughed.
"What do you mean, by leaving?" Krista asked.
"I got discharged, so I'm leaving this hospital, and hopefully won't be back as a patient." Alex said.
"Did you get discharged, or are you leaving against medical judgements?" Jordan asked.
"Well, we will never know! But I did stay long enough for the necessary medical test, at least twenty four hours of medical observation, and made sure I was okay," She argued.
"Well, she did better than I would have," TC said honestly.
"Where are you going when you leave?" Drew asked.
"I don't maybe a hotel, or go stay with my sister."
"You're going to drive to Dallas on two hours of sleep tops? No, that's not happening." TC said.
"And why not? I am a fully grown woman who can tell when she has had enough sleep, and if you try to tell me what to do again I will beat you with my leg."
"Ok calm down, wonder woman, all I am saying is why would you drive all the way to Dallas when you can just stay with one of us?" TC said in surrender.
"Because, I would never want to burden any of you by me crashing at your place."
"Well, I say as your "ex-fake-boyfriend" that you wouldn't bother any of us by crashing at our place, and if you stayed with me your could stay in the guest room," Drew said half-jokingly.
"Fine! Let me call my sister and tell her."
By the time she finished her phone call with her sister, she had walked out to her truck and started driving to Drew's house.
Drew and Alex got to his house at the same time, which was surprising seeing that Alex left five minutes after Drew.
"Well, someone is a speed demon today," Drew said.
"What I was tired, and excited to meet Rick in person!"
"Well come on then."
When they entered the house Drew showed Alex to her room, and then went to introduce Alex and Rick.
"Rick, this is Alex, an old friend of mine. Alex this is Rick my boyfriend," Drew introduced them.
"I have heard a lot of good things about you, Rick," Alex said.
"They were all lies, but I have heard a lot about you too. Also I would just like to know, which one of you came up with the idea of you two fake dating?"
"Well, we were good friends, and most people suspected it anyway. So we thought, why not just play into it? And, it was beneficial to both of us," she finished.
"What, did you have an old boyfriend to make jealous?" Rick asked.
"No actually, along with people thinking that we were together a bunch of people thought I was a lesbian, and everyone started treating me different. Which might I just say, I think is stupid, like even if I was gay, I'm not attracted to idiots. So out of nowhere, one day I kissed him, in front of everyone, after I made sure it was okay with him of course. Consent is necessary for fake dating."
"Ok, so you are a badass amputee, vet, who isn't afraid of what people think of her, and supports people? Sounds like we are going to have fun while you stay here."
"Thanks again for letting me stay here while I get a place."
"Oh it's not a problem at all. I know y'all are tired, go get some sleep and we'll finish this conversation when y'all get up."
"See you in about two hours," Alex said under her breath.
Sure enough, almost two hours later Alex woke up sweating and catching her breath. She had not exactly been fully truthful when she said that she was sleeping great. Her night terrors had gotten better, when she first started having them she would wake screaming, out of breath, feeling like she couldn't move, and sweaty. Now, some nights she would sleep great, but then other nights she would wake up out of breath, sweating, and couldn't go back to sleep. One of that doctors at the VA prescribed her anti-depressants and a sleeping medicine, but that was while she was in the hospital. She still had to take anti-depressants, but she no longer had sleep medicine.
She got up, found the bathroom, cleaned up, and changed into black jeans, an army green, plain shirt, and put her hair into a cute messy bun.
After she got done changing she went into the living room, where Rick was.
"You didn't sleep very long, Alex. Is everything ok?" Rick asked concerned.
"Everything's fine, I got some sleep at the hospital."
"Ok. You want something to eat?"
"I'll eat in a little while. I'm never hungry as soon as I wake up."
"Ok. Hey, Alex I have a question for you."
"Shoot."
"How long did it take you to get back in the rhythm of everything after your leg amputation?"
"Um, I'm still getting back into the rhythm of everything, and still getting used to the fact that there are somethings that I can't do the same way as before. However, one thing to remember is that just because it is hard or you can't do it the same way as before you can still do it, it just takes some time. I personally am a very prideful person and never asked for help, which I regret, so it took me longer to deal with everything. But you have a lot of people here for you, and if you don't want to ask Drew, because I know sometimes he can be smothering, I'm here for you."
"Thanks Alex, I needed that, also I am a kind of pride full person so if you see me struggling just hit me on the head and help me."
"You know, that is the probably what I should have said but instead I said, 'I'm a grown woman, I can do it by myself. No, I don't need a doctor's or nurse's help.' and, 'No, I am not calling my sister or anyone else, I can do it on my own I made it through ten years of the military. I don't my baby sister's help.' Again I regret that I said those things, but instead I acted stupid and paid for it too."
"I mean I never took it that far, but I almost outed Drew multiple times, sometimes on purpose. But if you were there you would have acted the same way, all I wanted was my boyfriend and he was being an ass. I also almost outed myself, but I didn't care at the time."
"Yeah I almost outed myself and Drew but that was because I was high on pain meds," she said laughing.
"Wait, your gay?"
"I wouldn't say that, but I also wouldn't say I'm 100% straight. I am not that worried or concerned with labels but I would say questioning for sure or anthrosexual. That would have very confusing to say like 'ok yeah I said I was gay but I'm not really gay or straight I was just high' although it would be funny."
"Yeah, it would be."
They talked, watched TV, and ate for another three or four hours before Drew woke up. When Drew did wake up they got lunch and helped Alex plan on what she was going to do, job and house wise. They decided she would start with looking for a house, with the money she had saved up for this exact reason, and then look for a job.
Right after they ate dinner, Alex got a call from her sister saying that her and the guys had to go back to Vancouver to start filming in a few days, but before Arie left she was gonna come back to San Antonio and meet the rest of Alex's friends.
Alex had they great idea of watching a movie at the house, eating popcorn, and drinking. The guys thought that this was a great idea, so they picked out a movie, put it in, made popcorn, and opened a few beers.
After the movie was over, they all had to much popcorn, and maybe a few to many beers, they all went to sleep.
