Chapter VIII

After getting all ready, Karasuno walks to their rented bus with Reiji walking beside his sister. "Takeda-sensei complimented us, but frankly, if we were facing Seijoh and Oikawa in an all-out match, we'd be lacking." Reiji listened to what the captain had said and immediately agreed with the statement of his, since what they missed are Ace and Libero for now.

"Spoken like a true captain."

A familiar voice spoke up, making all of them stop walking when they saw a certain Seijoh Volleyball Club captain, leaning against the wall of the school gate. Probably waiting for Karasuno to walk past. "You know your stuff." Oikawa smirked at Karasuno immediately, Tanaka made a delinquent face while Hinata also tried to make one but failed since he was nothing but a ball of sunshine, not a delinquent.

"The Great King makes his entrance!"

"You got a problem, dude?"

"Wanna fight?"

Tanaka already gets used to it but Reiji can't help but feel amused at the ball of sunshine who try being 'scary' but he clings his grip on Tanaka's jacket, following him behind like a follower sort of. "Don't be hostile. You the shrimp, your last one-touch and broad attack were amazing. It's your lucky win today but let's give it all we got the next time, right from the start. You didn't get to see our set up. Oh, yes, and we'll be improving our serves, too."

This makes two players who suck at receiving tensed up and Reiji couldn't help but feel a little bit annoyed about this.

As if Oikawa mocked them.

"It's true, your offense was amazing but your receives are slow. You'll reach your limit very quickly." Oikawa starts to walk, probably making his way back to the gym. "I'm not the only one who hits powerful serves. The Inter-High preliminaries are coming up soon. Don't get eliminated, okay? Because I want to pulverize my dear underclassman, setter-on-setter, in an official match."

And of course, everyone flinches when they feel a familiar dark aura that comes out from their male manager.

"Um, excuse me?" Reiji called out and Oikawa glanced at the black haired male who had his brown eyes lit up when he saw the manager. "Ah! It's good to officially meet you!" Oikawa said, walking to the manager who had his grey eyes narrowed toward Oikawa who chuckled when he saw this.

"Now, now, don't be angry-"

"I'm not angry but...for some reason I feel annoying. Too annoying about your presence. Because for some reason, with all the words you just said to us, are you mocking us?" Reiji asks, glaring at the brown haired male who blinked at the hostile from the manager and let out another chuckle.

"Well, I'm going to lie if I say I'm not mocking you but, you have taken my interest about you. What is your-?" "Just so you know, I'm not a player. I'm just a manager." Oikawa blink again and this male can't help but smirk. "I see. I wonder if I crush your team, I probably can claim you as our prize, aka our new manager," Oikawa said casually, patting on Reiji's shoulder as the situations become tensed as soon as Oikawa said,

"For now, have fun with your team~"

And with that, Oikawa leave them alone.

"Oh, welcome home you two! How's the match?"

Kiyoko and Reiji put their school bag on the couch before making their way to the sink to wash their hands before joining their parents for dinner. "Well, we win the match since the main setter is coming a bit late." Reiji said, taking a seat beside his father who already took a seat, accepted the rice bowl that their mother had served. "And their captain is nothing but cocky, I hate him." Reiji huffed annoyed when he remembered that the opponent's captain had been mocking them and remembering this making Reiji more annoying than before. "Well, it's such a lucky win but if the main setter was with them from the beginning, I don't know which school will win, having an interesting first year player." The older male Shimizu chuckled at his son's annoying face as the father pat his son's head, trying to calm him down.
