Arranged

bathrooms lock from the inside

i slowly made my way into my parents bedroom perching myself on their dirty bed, there room smelled of mildew, and the air almost felt dusty.

my mom came in rather suddenly as i was making the bed, which i felt i needed to do even if it only made the room feel a little bit better.

"hey kate, what are you doing in here?" inquired my mother as she began to pick up different clothes placing them into a laundry basket, which was weird because my mother never did laundry.

"umm well i have somthing to tell you" i replied nervously picking at my nails. "yes kate what is it?" i could tell my mother didnt want to talk to me by the tone of her voice. "well um i uh, i got a part in titanic" my mother stood there silently before brushing off her skirt and in a stern voice saying "well we wont be doing that now will we?" i groaned come on mum the film has a multi million dollar budget, "kate we already went through this i- she stopped "wait did you say multi million?" she asked a sly grin on her stern face.

"yes mother multi million" i replied, god why would she even ask that if she wouldn't let me be in it? "ok you can be in it" i jumped off the bed, engulfing her in a hug which wasn't reciprocated. "on one condition" she continued "what? what? ill do anything" "you have to give us half of what you make from the movie" i grinned broadly, it wasnt the money i wanted it was the experience, and so i agreed shaking her  hand to seal off the deal.

next morning

james had told me to come rather early that day as he wanted me to meet my new co-star, i was surprised that he had already picked someone rather than seeing if we worked together well, however if james thought that they were right for the part, i was in no position to complain.

i climbed out of my car in-front of the studio, waving to the pretty blond secretary who i now knew by the name of Abigail, as i walked past. nocking on the same dark wood door, i stood nervously waiting to see who my costar was.

"come in!" yelled a voice i could now easily recognize as james from within the office. i grasped the brass door nob and turned it slightly, pushing the door open.

"hey Kate this is your new costar" the guy was leant out the window, his back faceing me as he breathed in deeply.

it felt weird, almost as if time was standing still, something about him looked so familiar but i couldn't quite seem to put my finger on it.
pushing a hand through his dirty blond hair the guy stood up, and turned around. his blue eyes met mine, and i gasped. i looked from james to Leo and then back to james, feeling dizzy and light headed.

"Kate, this is Leonardo Dicaprio, Leo this is Kate Winslet. you two will be staring on titanic together."

Leo looked just as suprised as me, and i felt as though i was going to faint. "d-do you two know eachother?" questioned james, and knowing smirk growing on his face. "uh you could say that" stammered Leo, finnaly breaking eye contact with me, letting his eyes drop awkwardly at his feet. he almost looked sad, almost as if he didnt like the idea of us working together, and it made me feel a bit sick.

"I uh, im gonna go use the bathroom" i spoke sadly, picking up my bag and sitting down on the cold lid of the toilet. outside i could hear james and leo talking, "what the hell man? did you not know that we're arranged to be married?" questioned leo in a harsh wisper which i could faintly hear through the door. "actually Leo the subject never came up, in fact i dont think there would ever be a situation were you would feel the need to divulge that information" replied james coyly.

pressing my ear up against the bathroom door i  listened closer. "james i cant work with her, it would be weird, we barely know eachother, and have you seen that script. im suposed to draw her naked, do you know how awkward thats going to be?" "oh your going to be doing a lot more than just that" countered james, a knowing smirk in his tone. i gasped and pushed down the handle to the washroom which i had been clutching for support as i leaned against the wood door.

the door swiftly opened, hitting the wall as it went, and making a large hole. i tumbled forward, into the room catching sight of Leo who looked irritated, but also strangely amused. turning my head toward james i could see that he was stifling a laugh, "i uh, you really should have locked the door" i said from my spot on the hard carpeted floor "you really shouldn't have be eavesdropping" replied james as he reached for my hand, and pulling me up from the floor.

i could hear Leo stifling a laugh, and turned to him to see what was so funny, "what?" i questioned looking down at my clothes to see what was wrong, then james began to snicker. i was becoming irritated and slightly paranoid, "what is it? what did i do?" "Kate bathrooms lock from the inside" replied Leo, a devilish grin plastered across his face.
