Prologue...

"Ouch!" I shrieked. The heel on the black heels I was wearing suddenly snapped under the pressure of me rocking backwards and forwards.

Stupid shoes I shouted in my head. I hated heels, actually I loathed heels. They weren't mine they were my bestfriend's and she made me promise to wear them to the stupid debutant.

My foot was prodding with pain. I had just gave up on you to come pick me up.

I plonked down on a nearby fold-up chair and ripped the other shoe off with sheer determination.

I can't believe it you get me to go to this stupid thing and then you just ditch me in the middle! When I found you, I was going to kill you!

The music that filled the room turned from a fast techno song that was really getting on my nerves to a slow and soft one.

My eyes flickered nervously around the once gym room, yet now deb room.

I took a seat in the far corner hoping to blend in with the dark shadows that surrounded me.

Angrily I dropped my heels and ripped the hem of my dress so that I could walk normally. Whoever invented this dress obviously never tried it on.

I never wanted to go to the stupid deb anyway.

If you're wondering what a deb is, it's a stupid reason for girls and guys to mingle flirt and dirty dance. I was not a fan of any of this. I came with my bestfriend Samantha and she told me she'd be back when she was done and without another word she happily went off with a boy she had just meet. I was supposed to go with my ex Jeremy, but he broke up with me two weeks before the deb. He didn't go with anyone, but at the end of the night, he was probably going to end up with someone attached at his mouth. He was a user. He didn't care about your feeling, just how you looked, acted and if you had a lot of friends.

I glanced through the crowd and caught the alluring eyes of a pale boy standing on the wall opposite me; the crowd broke a way just in time so I could meet his gaze. I felt my cheeks go red and immediately looked to the ground were my bare feet sat.

Fancy lanterns hung from the roof top giving enough light to see and walk. Deciding there was no point waiting in here, I prodded outside, heels in one hand and purse in the other.

The cold air burnt my throat; thank god it was nearly summer. I loved winter, but I was kind of getting sick of it.

A shrill high pitched scream came from the forest, and I knew immediately who the scream belonged too...
