Chapter 1:
Soo Jin's POV
If there's one thing that I would die to have, that is silence.
Ever since I was a child, my life has been hectic while the world has been an ass to someone like me and my sister.
Our parents are nowhere to be found and having relatives felt like having a dream that won't come true. Yeah, you can say we never really have a normal nor a peaceful life, since we were all busy trying to survive and gain money to have a roof on top of us.
"Yah, why the long face baby sister? Is going to school that bad for you?" that's my big sister, Han Goo.
She's the nicest person to ever exist in my life and if the world disagrees about it, I'll make them regret thinking about it.
Despite how clumsy she could get, she was the only relative and my mother throughout my childhood.
She's everything to me.
"Yes, so can I NOT go today?".
"Ah ah ah, yesterday I already allowed you to 'play sick' so that you can skip school. So not today, darling." She exclaimed while pinching my cheeks.
"Ahhhhh unnie, stop it!" I replied with a pout.
"Aww I can't help myself. You're just so cute, you know?".
"That's not what my friends said." I tried to reply silently.
But what I said were facts though. Moreover, my friends are more like...
'Friends'
"Hm?".
"N-nothing." I stuttered.
Not long my eyes caught something that was not something unusual for me, but it wasn't a pleasant sight either.
On her neck, a small bruise with a dark purple color that surrounds the area was revealed, and gosh how I hate that sight.
I couldn't imagine what she had to go through to the point she got a hickey from a random guy, just so that we could live in this messy apartment with a not-so-kind landlord.
Yes, you've probably guessed it.
My sister works at a nightclub, and it's not as glamorous as you think.
"Another hickey guy last night?" Hearing my question she quickly hid the mark with her right palm.
Her other hand was busy holding my plate filled with a half-cooked sunny side-up egg and two fried sausages from the supermarket next to our apartment.
After hiding her hickey perfectly with her palm, she just ignored my question and quickly put my breakfast in front of me and start eating hers.
"Sorry...For asking that.." I apologized while I lowered my head out of guilt and hatred towards her customer last night.
I could feel her eyes staring at me with sadness and a touch of softness, feeling my anger.
But, how can I complain? This is just how we survive all this time, not to mention our social life is also at stake. If it wasn't because of me being underage, I would be working my muscles just so that she wouldn't have to be busy taking care of disgusting people with such low morals.
But, at the end of the day, that's just how life is.
So cruel and unfair.
"I'll go to school today.." I swear after I said that she jumped and almost flip the table.
