Chapter 9

17 December 2024

18th December will be our last day going to college before winter. By this time the snow had already fallen down. Have I tell you guys, how much I really love snow. It is one of the few wonder in this world in my opinion. Well I don't exactly have that in Indonesia.

Last few months was very helpful to me. I get lucky because I get a job on Axyz, and it really helped me. Plus the idiot night shift guy got offered junior chef in Axyz. Well...well..well.. 

But I turned it down. I'm still haven't ready and I'm still studying in university. I don't have the time now. But maybe after I graduate, I will have the balls to tak the job.

We have reached the mid of the fifth semester and my academics are as usual great, top five in the class. Well I have to, it's the requirement for my scholarship. Thank you to all my friends, especially Nina that helped me a lot lately on journalism class.

Ooo yeahh, It's also almost Christmas. I didn't come home this Christmas because to be truthfull. I didn't have enough money. Nah.. I'm kidding, I have the money but damn!!...        Plane ticket around this period of time sure is expensive. There's a reason and also I wanted to spent some Christmas time here in NY. With my friends and Violet. 

Before Christmas I've got some plan though for Violet. I want to spent more time with her. I mean it was holiday. Come on man, gotta spent the time with the ones you loved.

I planned on taking her to a dinner to somewhere beyond New York. One problem though my last job before Christmas is on 20th and 21th December. She goes back to Boston on 22th December in the morning. I've got to find a win - win solution here for our christmas dinner. 

Use your brain Evan!!...

So I've decided that I will take Violet to Axyz at 7 pm on 21th December. Earlier I asked permission on Mr.Martin to give me a double shift on 20th, which he give it to me because I explain my reason, that I want to take my girlfriend on a christmas dinner on 21th December

He just exploded on that news and saying all of his wisdom and encouragement for my love relationship. But one sentence from Mr. Martin that stick to my mind is, "Where do you plan to take her?"

"I originally want to take her to Dante's but we often goes there and it's on New York. I want something new and fresh, and outside the city of New York. Until now I still don't have a place Mr.Martin."

Mr.Martin only nodded and touching his chin. He replied back eventually,

"Why don't you take her here, in Axyz. You said it yourself you want something new."

I thought about it for a while and decided that it was a great idea. Mr.Martin said that he will helped me on the reservation. That is such a bless too.

We go to Philly by bus, we went around 4 pm. Our schedule was at 7 pm. By the time we arrived in Philly the sun was setting down, the snow was falling faster making the air around us colder. Luckily we had prepared our trusty winter jacket.

Oh, almost forget I didn't told Violet about our dinner place, because maybe she will be surprised when we arrived?? Or maybe this could all turn bad? I don't know!...

By the time we arrived at Axyz, Violet seems surprised, that's good right.

"Van, really! Are we going to eat on Axyz? How did you get the money?
Did you steal some money? And how the hell did you get a reservation here? It's so hard to get one here."
