After his parents passed away, Ethan had no person to take care of him. With his grandmother already placed in a senior citizen's home as well as not knowing any other family members, he was sent to an orphanage to reside in.
He was living in the orphanage alongside Amber until he overheard adults talking about the tale of Mountain Ebott.
After finding out about thewar between Humans and Monsters, he convinces his timid friend to permanently escape the orphanage. Ethan, being an adventurous boy, unknowingly leads the two children to the underground not long after escaping the orphanage.
After finding the entrance to the underground, Ethan accidentally falls into the bottomless pit, which then leads Amber to fall into the underground.

Ethan is an adventurous 12-year-old boy. He is a very confident person, and very silly. He hardly ever takes situations seriously first-hand. His outgoing personality grants him the ability to easily speak to others, which lead him to quickly meet Amber in the orphanage. Ethan is also a very kind person, and can never bring himself to hurt anyone.
Ethan has messy dark brown hair and dark brown eyes. His clothing consists of a light pink shirt with one stripe, the color of hot pink. In the middle of his shirt is a big red heart, overlapping the hot pink stripe. He wears plain black pants that stop right at his brown shoes.
A couple of days after he arrived in the orphanage, Ethan met a very shy and reluctant Amber. Amber and Ethan quickly became friends due to his charming personality. It wasn't long before they began to only speak to each other. They were paired together in the orphanage after adults noticed they were practically inseparable. They were close for a long time before Ethan had convinced Amber to run away from the orphanage. He had vowed to never go back after reaching the forest.
