Chapter 5

Arthur Shelby had agreed with Harry that he was going to open up the Garrison that morning. As he approaches the front doors he sees a small figure curled up beside the door.
"Oi! Get off me property!" He yells at the person, yet they still remained unmoving.
Arthur stomps his way to the person and grabs them, but when he sees the face of Norah he lets out a gasp.

Her skin was extremely pale and dried blood covered her hands and knees. "Shit. Norah wake up!" Arthur shakes her hard but careful not to hurt her "Norah please" He begs the girl he had learned to care for to wake up.
He swiftly picks her up in his arms and runs back to his home he had just left.

Throwing open the door he rushes into the kitchen and lays her limp body on the table which was surrounded by his family.
"Fuck. What happened to her Arthur?" John asks just brother while Polly rushes to grab as many blankets as possible to warm up the frozen girl.
"I dunno John, She was just on the ground outside the Garrison" Arthur exclaims while letting at an exasperated sigh.

Ada worked on cleaning up the blood on the girls hands and knees, making sure they were clean to help prevent infection. Arthur had run off into the streets while yelling obscenities while Thomas and John followed him. Polly was wrapping the girl up in as many layers as possible.

When Arthur returned from his rampage, Pol asked him to move her to a bed. So Arthur picked up Norah extremely carefully and carried her up the stairs and into his room. He needed her close so he could make sure she was alright, he wanted to protect her at all costs.

The next day Arthur had sat by an unconscious Norah for hours. He held her hand as he prayed for her to wake up and be alright.
Polly would come up ever so often to check on the girl in question and to check on her eldest nephews sanity.
It was around 6pm that Norah had stirred, her eyes slowly twitching open. The first face she saw was Arthur's. He looked so happy to see her finally awake.
"Polly she is awake" Arthur yelled down the stairs, completely forgetting that Norah had just woken up until a light hiss came from her mouth at the volume of his voice "Oh sorry love" apologised Arthur
"It's alright, but what happened?" Questioned the girl
"I found you outside the Garrison the other day and you were unconscious, what were you doing?" He replied to her, still confused as to her reasoning for being asleep on the doorstep of the place she works
"Oh" all of her memories of that night came back from her mother throwing plates at her to calling her a whore and kicking her out of the house, a small tear fell from her eye but Arthur was quick to wipe it away. Swiftly he pulled her into his chest and held her close, wanting to comfiest her as much as possible
"M-my-my mother kicked me out" whisper Norah with a cracked voice as Arthur ran his hands through her hair
"Oh love, you could have stayed 'ere you had me worried" Arthur chuckled at the girl as they broke their embrace when Polly entered
"How are you feeling sweetheart?" Questioned Pol who reached to feel for Norah's temperature
"I am alright, my knees are a little sore but otherwise I am okay" replied the girl who will be forever grateful to be friends with a family that cared for her so much no matter how much of a burden she felt to be to them.
