I awoke on the side of a road, not knowing where I was or who I am. My head was throbbing and my vision blurred as I got up. I looked around me. Perfectly paved roads, emerald green leaves hung on thick branches, crystal blue skies and a warm sun. A wooden sign with bronze letters next to me read: You are entering Storybrooke, Maine.

Where the hell am I? I asked myself.

I looked down the road, past the sign. I looked behind me and sighed. I didn't have any other choice but to walk down the road to see if there was a town nearby.

"Might as well," I murmured. "I don't have any other choice."

I folded my arms and started following the road. The walk was mostly silent but I had the company of birds singing, leaves rustling and my footsteps, of course.

The walk was long enough for me to contemplate on what happened in the past ten minutes. Who am I? What happened before I lost my memory?

"Um, excuse me!" a voice called out.

I turned to my right and saw a police car with a blonde-haired woman inside. "May I help you?"

"Yes," she said. "I'm Sheriff Swan, sheriff of Storybrooke. You can call me Emma, though. Who are you?"

"I--um--my name is--uh, well you see, I--I don't really know who I am," I stammered. "I woke up in the side of a road, just past the sign, with no memories at all."

Emma nodded. "Get in. I'll take you to town."

I hesitantly got in the passenger seat and fastened my seatbelt. I leaned my head back and closed my eyes, hoping to alleviate the sharp throbbing behind my eyes. My straight pink dip-dyed blonde hair hung loose around my shoulders.

"So," I said. "How long have you been sheriff?"

"About, say, a year or so?" she said. "I also have a ten year old son who believes fairytales are true. No father, just two moms. It's been difficult since his adoptive mom, the mayor, and I are constantly arguing on who gets to watch over him. I gave him up after he was born."

"I can help watch him," I piped up. "If you want."

"You'll have to ask Mayor Mills first. Clearly I 'threw the chance to watch him away when I gave him up.'"

The car slowly began to stop in front of a small town. There was a boarded up library with a large clock tower on top of it. The clock read 7:54.

"Don't bother reading the time," Emma said. "It's always been stuck like that."

We got out and I looked around. The shops were all open and cafe nearby had a girl with dark hair and red lipstick putting out a sign.

"Since you don't know your name," Emma said. "I'll give you a new one. Destiny Valdez, welcome to Storybrooke."
