I am Amethyst Morgan, but most people just call me Ammie. I have a twin brother named Ethan and a little sister named Jane
"Look at all of this" Ethan said, setting down tons of different kinds of candy "What'd you do, rob an ice cream truck or something?" I asked, setting down different chocolate things on the counter "Tomorrow we officially join the high school brotherhood. We are men" Benny said, making me clear my throat "And women" he added "We must mark the moment"
"Let's make the sunday to end all sundays" I said, taking a scoop of mint chocolate chip ice cream and eating it. Ethan picked up a huge bag of mini marshmallows "Remember grade five when you put 176 of these in your mouth?" He asked Benny, and I laughed, remembering the moment
"Yeah, right, it was 186" Benny scoffed "No way" Ethan protested "I did 172, you did 176" "You barely hit 150" I snorted, eating another scoop of ice cream "Seriously Ammie? You're on his side?" He asked, playfully hurt. I laughed "Yep, he's my twin now" I said, putting my arm around Benny's shoulder and putting my head on his shoulder
We all laughed and then Benny challenged Ethan to a chubby bunny game, and they started shoving mini marshmallows into their mouths. They stopped when we heard a scream, we all noticed that Jane wasn't watching that stupid vampire movie anymore, and we ran outside
Ethan spat out all the marshmallows in his mouth as we awkwardly said hi to Mom and Dad. Benny waved slightly before scratching the back of his head, his mouth still full of marshmallows "You're home early" I pointed out, shifting my stance under our parents stern glares
We cleaned up everything inside after being lectured by our parents and Benny went home. Me and Ethan got grounded, and Mom and Dad hired a babysitter. I huffed as I went upstairs to me and Ethan's shared room and laid down faced down on the top bunk of our shared bunk bed
I rolled over and grabbed my laptop, putting my ear buds in and calling Benny. His face popped up on my computer screen "Hey Bennyboo" I said using his nickname I gave him when we were kids 'Hey Ammiebear' He greeted 'What's up?' "I'm sorry you had to leave early and we never got to 'mark the moment' of becoming high schoolers" I apologized
'It wasn't your fault. We were all being stupid, and none of us were paying attention to Jane' He shrugged "Well Mom and Dad hired a babysitter" I huffed. He snorted, but quickly hid it 'A babysitter? Do you know who it is?'
"Some girl named Erica. She goes to our school. I really hope I don't know her" I yawned 'You should probably get some sleep for our big day tomorrow' He said, and I nodded "Night night, Bennyboo" I smiled 'Goodnight Ammiebear' He said before I hung up
I carefully set my laptop down on the floor before using all my upper body strength to pull myself back onto my bunk. Ethan walked in when I was hanging over the side of our beds and sighed, facepalming
"Please help" I pleaded as the blood rushed to my head. He grabbed my forearms and lifted me onto my bunk. I thanked him and said goodnight as he turned off the light, and I snuggled into my covers, falling asleep
The next day
I woke up angrily as my alarm went off and groaned, literally flopping out of bed. I guess that's my fault for not wanting the things on the sides that help kids not fall off of the bunk. When Ethan heard the thunk of me hitting the ground he quickly sat up, hitting his head on the bottom of my bunk"Ow" he said, holding his head and groaning. I pulled myself off of the floor and silently walked to the bathroom with my clothes to change and put on my makeup, which consists of black eyeliner, mascara, and pink lip gloss
I carefully rubbed my eyes as I walked downstairs. I grabbed the cinnamon toast crunch and poured a big bowl of it. Ethan walked down the stairs as the doorbell rang. He opened the door to see a weirdly happy Benny standing, ready to go to school. Ethan invited him inside and he sat down at the table next to me
He was staring at my food so I stood up and got him a bowl for himself "Thanks Ammiebear, you're the best" He smiled as I gave him breakfast "Why are you so happy?" I asked as he quickly downed his cereal and set the dish in the sink "I don't know. I guess I'm a morning person" He shrugged
I finished my cereal and put my bowl into the sink before leaning against the counter "I am most definitely not a morning person" I yawned. He chuckled as Ethan walked in, putting some waffles into the toaster before fixing his hair "Hey Ammie, where did I put my backpack?" Ethan asked
"It's right there" I said, pointing to the ground by the door "Thanks" He said before turning to Benny "You didn't bring any of your stupid gadgets did you?" "Well...No?" He said, like he was unsure, making Ethan roll his eyes. I grabbed my backpack and tied my long black hair into a messy bun as Ethan finished his waffles and we headed out the door
I walked in between the boys on our way to school, and after about 10 minutes of talking we arrived "A babysitter though? For you two? Classic" Benny laughed "Shh, keep it down man!" Ethan scolded "This kind of info could totally ruin a guy's rep"
"And..." I cut in, rolling my eyes at Ethan "It's not for us, it's for Jane" "On the bright side, one of these primo high school babes could totally be at your house tonight" Benny said, looking around at all of the girls in the hallway "Hey hot stuff" He said to one of them. I felt a weird feeling in my chest, but shook it off "Dude, you are a creep" I laughed, smacking the back of his head playfully
"All we know is her name is Erica and she goes to this school. With any luck we can talk our parents out if it by tonight" Ethan explained, and I nodded. We turned around to see Principal Hicks struggling to put up a Missing Teen sign, and then a kid, Jesse, ran over to help him "Oh, Principal Hicks, let me help you with that" Jesse said, holding his coffee cup for him as he finished putting up the sign
"Thank you Jesse, much better" Principal Hicks thanked him "Anything for our fearless leader. Do you mind?" Jesse asked, referring to the coffee. Jesse took a sip of it and I gagged "French Roast" he said, making Hicks repeat it, and same when he said "Good choice" Jesse finally walked away, and Hicks snapped out of the trance he was in and laughed awkwardly "Drama kids, they're always making a scene" he joked, making us awkwardly laugh back
When he walked away I looked at Ethan and Benny and mouthed 'weird' before shaking my head and walking to class
