Jack shook me awake.

"It's sooooo earrllly..." I protested.

I rolled over to bury my face in the blanket a little more.

"I've let you sleep for as long as I could" he urged.

"We've should've already left if we wanted to be back before too late. I've already packed up the horse. I was just waiting for you to wake up."

The cool of the morning pulled at my face.

"Ugggh. Mom... Five more minutes...."

I mocked, trying to block out his voice.

"Vee..." He pleaded.

"Fine..."

I pulled the blanket off of me and pulled my legs over to the side of the bed. I looked up at him. He had a different shirt on from yesterday. This one was a dark green, and didn't have nearly as many holes in it. It made his eyes and hair seem a little darker. He had obviously combed his hair, it's part was a little more defined.

"Hmph." I grunted as I got up.

"What?" He questioned as he watched me stumble to the table.

"Nothing."

I let out a light giggle under my breathe.

"It looks like you actually tried to dress nice."

"Oh? You think so? I was going for a less rural farmer more civilized gentleman type."

I snickered again. With puckered up lips and exaggeratedly batting eyelashes I teased him.

"All for me?"

He looked me up and down, trying to think about who he was really dealing with.

"No! It's just been a while since I've been in town and I wanna look decent."

The blanket and pillow that Jack had slept with were already picked up and put away. The dishes that had littered the table yesterday were now gone, the only thing left was the satchel and dagger.

Sure. Trying to look good for "the town".

I felt my cheeks flush.

"Aha. Suuure." I said as I went to put on my shoes.

"Before you do that, you might want to put these on."

He walked back over to the bed and pulled a stack of clothing out from under it. He held them up for me to take.

I dropped my shoe laces and grabbed the outfit from him, holding it up to get a better look. It was a tattered dark blue shirt and a pair of patched up dark grey cotton pants.

"You're kidding."

He shook his head in serious opposition."If you really did have a run in with a Scaling. He most likely would've served the king."

"So?"

He sighed annoyedly.

"And since that package was important enough that he was willing to kill for it, others will be looking for it too, and you as a result."

"And....?"

"Which means you need to wear them."

"But they don't know I have anything, or that I drank it?"

"Not yet. But once they find out it's missing, they'll be searching anyone who they deem suspicious. And someone who dresses like you will stand out easily."
