It felt like the day dragged on forever. Hinata only had a few lessons left before the end of the school but it felt like eternaty. The images kept replaying in his head no matter how much he tried to push them away from his memory. He was so lost in thought that when the teacher asked him a question, he wasn't able to answer and just sat there as if he was in a world of his own.
Every time he had to change classes he made sure that no matter what, he would not bump into Kageyama. That aspect of the day was running quite smoothly, Everytime he saw that black headed boy he'd start walking the other way. Making sure no eye contact was made.
Nevertheless, school had to end and practice had to start. Hinata promised himself that no matter what would happen he's not going to let the memories of seeing Kageyama with another girl ruin his practice.
Even though practice went well and Hinata managed to improve his receives with the help of his teammates, he could feel tension building up between him and Kageyama. No matter how hard Hinata tried to act normal everytime Kageyama spoke to him, Hinata felt like he was freezing up and giving him half replies that consisted of, mmmm, yes, ok, again.
Kageyama didn't seem to find it odd, or at least to Hinata it didn't seem like he even realised the short boys awkwardness. At least that was a good sign for Hinata as he could continue pushing back the memory and trying to avoid Kageyama.
Before long it was time for the team to go and change so they could head home. Normally Hinata and Kageyama would stay for a bit longer as volleyball flowed through their veins and it was the only thing that made them thrive, but this time Hinata was one of the first people in the changing room. Kageyama picked up on that, following him eager to know the reasoning behind this.
Before Kageyama could even say a word, Hinata was already racing to get changed and out the building. It was so unusual seeing him like this, it didn't sit right with Kageyama, he had to know why he was behaving like this so whith that he also managed to change in record time, making sure he could catch up with Hinata and speak to him. Without a goodbye Hinata rushed out, his face burried in his jacket and his legs pacing, trying to reach his bike before anyone was able to confront him. Aware of Hinata's fast exit Kageyama burst through the door where Hinata just left wanted to catch up with him, but to his surprise Hinata started quickening his pace untill both boys were running. Kageyama chasing Hinata.
"Dumbass come here!" Shouted Kageyama now catching up to Hinata who has now changed his course and was running aimlessly just to be out of Kageyama's reach.
"NO!" Hinata replied out of breath due to the fact that he didn't have any time to cool down from his practice.
Kageyama reached out his hand, he was so close. He could feel the fabric of Hinata's clothes on his finger tips. Just a tiny bit more, he thought to himself, so many things going through his mind at the moment. So many questions. And he could have them all answered just if he ran a tiny bit closer.
Yesss. Kageyama's hand clenched Hinata's shirt, never has he felt so good grabbing Hinata, well... Maybe except the day they kissed. Roughly Kageyama pulled Hinata towards him, forcing him to stop running and pushed him against a wall that they were near, making sure there was no escape. Unsurprisingly Hinata tried to fight Kageyama's grip which only made Kageyama hold on to his wrists even tighter, pinning him against the wall.
"Let me go!" Cried out Hinata still trying to wiggle out of Kageyama's hold but with no success.
"Not untill you explain yourself." This was the moment he was waiting for, the moment he could ask all the questions and finally be able to understand why Hinata is acting so strange.
"Explain myself!? Why should I explain when you're the one who should be explaining." Hinata frowned, giving up on trying to fight Kageyama and now obediently standing still.
"What?" Even more questions and still no answers. "Why have you been avoiding me?, You think I didn't notice you walking the opposite way from me in the hallways, and at practice, you hardly said a word to me. I thought you enjoyed our time yesterday, was I that bad at kissing?, was it all a mistake?, You should have told me it was a mistake instead of avoiding me, I'm sor-"
"Kageyama stop." Hintata said panting into Kageyama's face. "It was nothing like that. The kiss was amazing, I've never felt so happy in my life." He could feel his face becoming hot and his vision became blurry when he felt his eyes tear up. His hands were still held tightly by Kageyama so he had to just let his tears drip down his face leaving a wet trail.
"So why-" Kageyama loosened his grip around Hinata's wrist giving him more freedom. He lowered one of his hands to touch Hinata's face and wipe away his tears. He hated seeing Hinata cry, he could feel his heart crush like glass and shatter into pieces, his whole body felt heavy and under pressure.
"No stop! How could you?" Hinata bellowed shaking his head and grabbing hold of Kageyama's hand to toss it aside. No matter how good it felt to feel Kageyama's hand touch his skin, he was hurting too much. Confused, Kageyama tilted his face sideways, like he was studying Hinata. He opened his mouth but no sound came out, instead he just shook his head with a baffled frown on his face.
"I saw you today! With another girl." Hintata continued. Kageyama's blue eyes widened as sudden realisation hit his face. That's what this is all about. At least now he has some answers to the puzzle he was trying to piece.
Kageyama's face fell, Hinata observed his face as his expression changed significantly.
"I need to tell you something, please come with me." Hinata looked away once those words came out of Kageyama's mouth. Should he go? He thought to himself, a debate was in his brain.
"I don't want to listen to your excuses." He finally whimpered out.
"Please." Kageyama's soft tone caught a Hinata's attention forcing himself to look back at Kageyama. He's never seen Kageyama have this expression before, it was like he was begging him. Desperate. Hinata could tell the situation wasn't Black and white, there was something more serious going on here.
"Ok fine." Hinata replied hesitantly. Kageyama let go on his arm without breaking eye contact and started walking towards the exit of the school. Hinata followed him, eager to find out the truth and what he wanted to confess so deeply to him.
He just hoped he made the right decision.
