8 years later
There was a knock on the door to Hinata's and Kageyama's apartment. It was the summer after they finished their collage semester, which was way too stressful for their own good and now finally they had a time for themselves to relax.
"Hinata could you go open the door?" Kageyama asked as he was sitting on the floor bending over their coffee table, squiggling down notes, his eyes narrowed at the letters he was writing down. Hinata walked towards the door and while passing Kageyama took his hand out and ruffled the indulged boy. He reached the door and pulled the handle opening it wide.
His heart stopped at the sight in front of him, which made him automatically step out and close the door behind him.
"What are you doing here Akuhei?" The girl in front of him looked down to the ground, not daring to look into Hinata's eyes which gave a strong, intense glare. "How did you even find out where we live?"
"We?" She finally spoke.
"Yes we. Me and Tobio."
"He's okay?" Hinata's frown loosed at the question. Only then it clocked in his brain that Akuhei hasn't seen Kageyama since she hit him with her car.
"Yeah, he's fine, but seriously why are you here." Akuhei's body language was intimidated which was very out of the ordinary. At least what Hinata was used to seeing.
"I- I found out where you live from my father. You know he's powerful and is able to pull some strings for me, but I'm not here to cause trouble. Not anymore!" Akuhei could feel her hands trembling. "Once the accident happen my life changed a lot. I know you've probably heard that I moved schools, well that wasn't entirely true. There was a whiteness which told the police the license plate to my car meaning my father found out about everything. That was my last straw, he knew I was troubled but that was the point where he had enough. To make sure I didn't get court sentence my father payed a lot of money to buy off the cops and then sent me to a boarding school for troubled kids. I basically stayed there for the next 7 years. I had therapy and they tried to help me become a better person." Akuhei's voice trailed off. Hinata felt tense with where this conversation was going but the look on the females face in front of him made him feel some sympathy for her.
"Why are you telling me all this?" He continued, trying to break the silence and get to the bottom of this conversation.
"I just wanted to come over and tell you I'm better now and that I'm so sorry for everything I've done, I don't know what you must have gone through and it was all my fault. Just please forgive me for everything." She had tears now falling out her eyes, she was clenching on Hinata's shirt sleeves and looking down at her shoes.
"I'll forgive you." Akuhei's eyes darted up looking at Hinata who had a sorrow expression himself.
"You will?"
"Yeah, it's better to just move on then to cling onto the things in your past. But I would rather not see you ever again, you understand right?"
"Yeas of course, I'm sorry." Akuhei stepped backwards, letting go of Hinata and taking a deep breath before continuing. "I have one more thing I'd like to ask. Would it be possible if I could see Kageyama?"
At this question Hinata stiffened once again. The thought of them together didn't rub Hinata the right way, no matter how much Akuhei has changed, it made Hinata back up.
"Umm- I don't know about that." Hinata rubbed the back of his neck and he saw Akuhei's head fall down once again. "Give me your phone number. If Tobio wants to see you he'll call you." It was the smart thing to do. At the end of the day he wasn't allowed to chose for Kageyama what he should do. He trust Kageyama that even if they do meet up nothing will happen, even if it would make him a bit uncomfortable.
Akuhei wrote down her number on a small piece of paper from the notebook in her bag and handed it to Hinata.
"Thank you, and I'm sorry once again. I won't come see you ever again so don't worry." She bowed to Hinata before making her way opposite of Hinata.
The orange haired boy stood there for a minute, taking in all the information he was handed and then made his own way back inside the door.
He hardly closed the door before he felt the weight of Kageyama leaning on him, Kageyama's hands loosely hanging around Hinata's waist, his head drooped down.
"You're heavy." Hinata grouted trying to breath despite the weight on him. Kageyama scoffed which turned into a small chuckle which just bran Hinata more comfort after what he just went through. "What's up?"
Kageyama got off Hinata, his hands still wrapped, pulling him closer. Kageyama looked at Hinata with his ocean eyes before answering, "This is tiring."
"Well yes, there is a lot we have to plan. But think how this will all be worth it in the end." Kageyama brushed his thumb over Hinata's cheek when he saw one of Hinata's iconic smiles that he loved so much and bent down to give him a soft kiss on his lips.
"Yeah, I know." Kageyama answered, knowing Hinata was right, as always. "Who was that at the door by the way?" Hinata could feel his face drop, he realised that now he had to explain everything to Kageyama. And so he did, from the beginning the the end. By the time Hinata finished explaining everything the two boys found themselves back to where Kageyama was scribbling his notes.
"So there's one more thing." Hinata started while taking out the piece of paper with the phone number on it. "She is wanted to meet up with you, or at least she wanted you to give her a call." Throughout the whole story Kageyama's face remained pretty neutral, maybe except the first moment when Hinata announced Akuhei came over, however this was the first time Kageyama's eyes were widened and staring directly down at the piece of paper in Hinata's hand. He gently brushed his hand against Hinata's as he grabbed onto the piece of paper and blankly stared at it as if he was analysing something, looking for something deeper like a puzzle. Hinata observed Kageyama, unable to read what was going on in his head.
To Hinata's surprise Kageyama then grabbed the piece of paper with both of his hands and ripped it up. "What are you doing?" Hinata exclaimed, that was the last thing he expected Kageyama to do.
"I don't need to talk to her anymore. She's someone from my past and I would rather be here... with you." Hinata locked his gaze on Kageyama who had a warm smile on his face. "Why are you so surprised?" He continued now reaching for Hinata's hand and holding it tightly making sure Hinata could feel the support and love he was trying to transfer.
"I don't know, I just thought you would want to catch up with her." Kageyama laughed out loud pulling Hinata into a hug and ruffling his hair making Hinata even more embarrassed than he was before.
"I would rather spend it with you, planning our wedding." At this point Hinata could feel the blush creeping into his face while he was tightly in Kageyama's arms.
"I can't wait." Hinata whispered into his chest, closing his eyes and feeling the warmth against his face.
"Me too Tangerine"
