"How are you holding up, sweetie?"
Izuku breaks out of his thoughts, looking up to see Cynthia kindly handing him a cup of water after Atsushi manhandled him. He smiles and takes the cup, downing all the water in one go.
"I knew he had to be a horrible man, but it's even worse than what I thought out to be…" Cynthia sighs and takes a seat next to Izuku.
"At least he'll be in police custody now, since Yosano admitted to the rape charges," he vividly recalls as the Hanabi family was escorted out by the police a few minutes ago.
As Atsushi was still knocked out cold from the heavy punch, Yosano looked behind to Izuku, muttering words of "I'm sorry" for lying to him all this while.
It wasn't her fault, and after what had happened to her she couldn't have been in the right mind to say anything. Izuku blamed nothing on her, but himself for not doing better in the first trial.
"I hope you know you'll have to pay for that broken wall as much as we wanted Mr Hanabi beaten shitless," Mrs Atai grumbled, walking out of her office exuding elegance with her long flowing lavender hair swaying side to swide in her stride.
Every newcomer to the Musutafu Child Protective Services had the same experience of being intimidated by the older lady. The way she stood and talk showed how much she earned her title of director and honed the many years of experience in this job field.
Yes, she was caring and could express happy emotions like a normal person should, but she was the epitome of being fierce and strict when needed to. Which in fact, was constantly displayed considering the kind of work they were in. But Mrs Atai always had a soft spot for Izuku, dating back to when he first came as an intern.
The noisy whaling of a little girl pierced the air in the director's office, surprising and disturbing everyone around their work areas. Before they could come to question what was going on, Mrs Ataii opens the door enough for her head to fit through and pokes her head out to glare at anyone who got distracted by the crying.
"Ignore it and do your work," she growls and everyone immediately drops their head back down to avoid meeting a death sentence.
Kaito shivers at her death glare and Izuku gives a scared squeek.
"That's the director, just do your work and you won't be meeting the end of her walking stick," Kaito whispers and earns a suprised head tilt from the bushy green-haired intern.
"I don't think i've seen her with a walking stick before. She walks perfectly fine too."
"No it's a retractable one, she just whips it out to scare the lot of us. On some occassions it's like an accessory to her."
Izuku gives him a look of amazement before he lets out an "oof" from a hurtling small ball of lavender colliding into his chest.
The child's hair is tied in braided pig tails as she looks up at Izuku with teary big blue eyes. "Help me, mommy doesn't wanna listen to me!"
Izuku sits up to see Mrs Atai rushing out of the room frantically.
"Juno, get off that boy this instant!"
Izuku panickly asks the young girl,"N-now, what's wrong?"
The girl's cry lessens a bit, reduced to sniffles as she realises Izuku is willing to hear her out.
With wobbly eyes, she managed through her stuttering, "I-it's bring your parents to school day tomorrow, a-a-and mommy doesn't want to come."
