As I'm bawling my eyes out there's a knock on my door. Great timing, I think to myself. I wipe my tears with his sweater as I walk towards the front door. I look through the peephole but there's nothing to be seen except for a red car across the street. And rain, lots and lots of rain, it's as if the weather matches my mood.
I open the door to see if there maybe was a package or something, but there's nothing on the porch either. Weird, I think to myself. As I'm about to close the door I hear a familiar voice behind me, Payton..
Payton: Y/n?
I keep quiet as I turn around to meet the red puffy eyes of my best friend who's just standing there in the pouring rain. We lock eyes for a couple seconds before Payton makes his way up the stairs of my porch. Tears begin to fill my eyes again. Isn't it crazy how a person who I used love so much and always made me happy, now makes me sad?
I take a step back as Payton takes a step towards me.
P: okay, I get it.
He speaks calmly in a soothing voice. I crack a little smile through my tears.
He walks back into the rain and just stands there.
P: there's nothing to explain Y/n, I was being stupid, that's it. But I've made a big mistake, and I know that.
He takes a break from talking.
P: I simply just fucked up. But I can't lose you over some stupid girl I met 2 days ago. Because you're too important for me. I can't live without you.
I open my mouth to say something but Payton speaks up again.
P: even though you may not forgive me, I still want you to know that I'm sorry.
I stopped crying like I did before.
Y/n: but do you love Heather?
P: Y/n, have you never noticed?
Payton chuckles. I shake my head 'no.'
P: I love you, and only you. I've never loved anyone but you.
My eyes go slightly wider and my mouth falls open a little as I look at Payton.
P: I like you Y/n. I just never knew you liked me back.
Without any hesitation I run into the rain and jump into Payton's arms. He holds me up as I wrap my arms around his neck and hug him tightly. I then look into payton eyes and he looks into mine. I put my hands on both sides of his face and kiss him, passionately.
P: will you be my girlfriend?
I smile at him.
Y/n: of course I will.
I say as I kiss him again.
P: I love you so much.
Y/n: I love you way more.
Payton chuckles.
P: impossible.
