Grief.

It can make one want things that couldn't be easily granted but could easily happen if one knew the right people for the job.

It was eating away at the prince, slowly devouring him as if the trauma was not yet enough and Lady Madare, who saw an opportunity to get closer to the prince under a facade of pity and sympathy. The rest of the guests who could not even care less about a butler dying, whispered to themselves, planning cruel things in order to survive whichh involved sacrificing Hakuna so they could get away but Lady Magret suggested herself instead, making her so called husband sigh of relief. The saying that dealt with being between the devil and the deep blue sea applied in their situation. Either way they went, they would die horribly. And time was not on their side either, for the creatures could have run of butler meat any minute soon and could come for them.

After a series of arguments and protests that Hakuna should be sacrificed instead, a decision was made. Lord Hamilton would lead the women to a safe place and the two men would find a way for help. Everyone thought it was a dumb idea but no one had a better plan to suggest so they all agreed to it. Lord Hamilton led the way although his chest felt like someone plunged a sword through it and kept turning the blade. The other two men left at the deck stared at each other till a growl broke their contest and they could see two pairs of glowing yellow eyes in the distance, just watching them. Both men gulped in fear as the cool sea breeze started to gently blow.

The men, feeling a lot less brave decided staying at the deck was a very stupid idea especially with no means of escape neither any weaponry for fighting back with whatever strength they had left. So they too, ventured into the ship, knowing their chances of survival.

Somehow, the two terrified men managed to find the women and their escort as they were still looking for a hiding spot. They all managed to find Lord Hamilton's suite where they put all the women there and the men ventured off to find anything sharp or long or better still, a gun. Unknown to the rest of the survivors, they were being watched but not by those creatures but something else.

The two sisters had never gotten the chance to fully look at Lady Magret because they both looked at her with scorn and anger before the whole incident happened. Now that they were alone in a suite, they now looked at her who was sitting in a corner holding Hakuna like a doll, and they came to realize that she was far more prettier than both sisters combined and that infuriated them so much that they still gave her bad looks but she seemed to not notice or care even. Small talk was attempted but the replies gotten back killed the conversation faster than poison. Soon enough, each female slowly regressed into their own minds, thinking about nothing but survival, even if it meant killing off the rest. Apart from that, hunger also creeped in, and the females had to scavenge any source of food in the suite, each still suffering from fear.

Meanwhile, the men had sorted through ash and bones and found a harpoon, some knives, some medical supplies, some food and an M4 with few bullets in it, and were making their way back to the females when they heard footsteps. It was strange because the creatures made scratchy noises and groans when they moved, even sloppy noises but not footsteps. Lord Hamilton was given the duty of transporting the food supplies and medical supplies back to the women and the other two with the duty of investigating and followed the footsteps with the weapons. Lord Hamilton, two steps away from the door suddenly got the feeling he was being watched. And he was correct because he saw a pair of yellow eyes coming at him with full speed from a distance. Fear shot up and his chest felt like a hand just went through his chest and he felt being imprisoned.

But, his instincts kicked in and he ran towards the door with the creature getting very close, fumbled to get it open and as he did and entered the room, the creature took hold of his ear and ripped it off in an attempt to pull him out. Lord Hamilton, holding in severe pain and full of adrenaline grabbed hold of the creature's hand that tried to swipe at him and he closed the heavy titanium door on it, severing the hand clean from the creature and backed away from the door, trembling.

The females screaming in terror, hurried to lock the door properly and could hear the creature's whimpers from losing a hand. After fighting back, Lord Hamilton collasped to the floor after the adrenaline wore out and his chest pain came back, harder than before. He felt as if he was placed under a mountain and couldn't breathe, then he passed out with Hakuna and Lady Magret, trying to revive him only the ones concerned about him, the sisters couldn't care less but instead eyed the hand on the floor.

The rest of the men finally came back after searching but apparently, they couldn't find the owner of the footsteps and they came back to find a dismembered hand, an unconscious man with a missing ear and could hear more footsteps immediately they shut the door behind them, even running. But no one even dared to open the door even if it was a fellow human being out there, the fear they each faced had taken away their humanity, probably till their last breaths.

And they were still seven or so they thought.
