XIII - Cavalry Battle

John's POV

Midnight had just finished explaining how the second part of the event is gonna work. Basically we team up with other people to form an comfortable looking position. One in the front, two in the sides, and one in the top middle with all the headbands that contained the points.

Everyone began crowding around, looking for teams. I was pondering whether or not I wanted to go with Izuku, seeing as how he has the largest target painted on his back due to his 10 million points.

But I just shrugged it off and began walking towards him, when someone grabbed me by the shoulder. Felt kinda cold.

I turned around to see Prince Zuko finding his honor- I mean, Todoroki. He has his usual expression, the won't where you don't know if he's come or he's ready to turn you into a popsicle. Probably both.

"John, join my team"

"Why tho"

"Because you're powerful, and we can easily rise through the ranks if you join"

I turned back to Izuku, to see he already completed his team when he approached Edgy Birb, along with Uraraka and some girl from the Support Course.

"Hm.. sure, why not."

And so, me, Todoroki, Momo, and Iida we're discussing our position. Obviously Todoroki was top. We were discussing whether or not I was gonna go front or the back. "Hmm.. how about this. Momo can go upfront, make a riot shield or something as the front. Me and Iida will be the wheels to the chariot, as I can copy his engine quirk." I explained to the rest of them, to which they agreed. "Alright. But don't hesitate to copy other quirks to use to our advantage" Todoroki says as he ties his headband around his forehead. I just nodded and we all got into position.

This is gonna be fun.

"ALRIGHT! EVERYONE IS SET AND READY TO GO!!" Present Mic began shouting, not even needing a microphone as he is the microphone. A high powered microphone. "Start!" Midnight shouts, whipping the air.

We all began moving out, me and Iida using both engine quirks to increase our overall speed. Momo was wearing skaters that she made with her quirk, so me and Iida can go as fast as we want. I didn't amplify the engine quirk I copied, as it might throw us off balance.

We were taking several other headbands with ease. But Todoroki's main target was a walking, punching broccoli boi known as Izuku. I mean, with that 10 million points you could just be on the defensive till the timer runs out and you'll be fine. The problem? Everyone is gonna be out to get you.

And they can also fly thanks to the support items that pink haired girl made. Guess it would actually be really good to pair up with a support student.

Taking that as a note for next year's Sport Festival.

Throughout the event, this one time I saw a blonde dude who seems like the perfect punching bag. He was from class B apparently, and his attitude and personality sucks, and that's coming from someone that had to undergo rehabilitation.

His quirk was pretty much a poor imitation of mine. From my observation, he had to touch someone to copy their quirk, and could only use one copied quirk at a time.

Eventually, and somehow it came to a confrontation with our team and Izuku's. Me and Iida looked at each other and nodded. "Get ready to grab that headband Todoroki." I say with a smirk, as me and Iida both used Recipro burst to go high speed, like a car on nitro. Fortunately, Todoroki was able to act fast enough to steal the 10 million points, while Izuku's team couldn't even react when we easily pass them.

Our engines were stalling due to the Recipro Burst. But we had the 10 million points, and it was seconds till the match was over. I felt bad for Izuku, as he was left with 0 points now, which made them charge at us with desperation.

At our short clash, Izuku apparently managed to grab a headband. I was sweating, on edge as to which he got. Apparently it was only worth 70 points. He had a pretty disappointed look.

Not long after, they went in for another charge. Todoroki has some sort of ice pole thing, while there was also Bakugo, coming in with explosions propelling him from behind, until..

"TIME IS UUUPPP!!"

Aaaand Bakugo just flopped on the floor.

And to my relief, apparently Dark Shadow was able to grab another headband that was enough for Izuku's team to make it to the final event.

He somehow cried out high pressured tears that made a small crater below him. Is that his true quirk? How powerful.

I went over to him with a smile, holding out a hand. "Congrats man, that was a good fight." He smiled back, wiping his tear and pulling a snot, as he shook my hand. God I hope that hand didn't have any snot.

I wiped it on my pants just in case when he wasn't looking.

"Good teamwork John. But from here, we're back to enemies." Todoroki said, before leaving. "Huh.. well, alright then. Goodluck with finding your honor" We all then took a break after that event, as they all decided on the pairings for the final part of the event.

I went over to Jiro, Denki, and Sero. We have a growing friendship which is going really well. "You guys did pretty well" I said, starting up a conversation. "Yeah.. but not enough though" Denki slumped down. "So close too" Jiro sighed with her arms crossed.

"Well, at least you guys can just relax over at the seats now. And don't let it get to you guys, I'm sure this is just some bump on the road" I gave them a pat on the back, Denki still sulking while Jiro was just smiling at me. Before quickly turning away.

"So.. how was the experience of working with Bakugo" I turned over to Sero, who scratched the back of his head. "Wasn't.. entirely bad. To be honest he was acting on his own, but I can't lie that it was a fun and helpful team experience" "nice. You guys wanna go eat lunch now?" They all nodded and we went off.

The next fight looks fun.

One on One fights.

'Well.. its a good thing I managed to copy Todoroki's quirk again. Looks like this will be a breeze' I grinned, as we made it to the cafeteria to eat.

I'll be more detailed next chapter, when John finally gets to fight one on one fights again! Hopefully he won't make the hospital too busy again
