If you didn't know before, I was writing a Spirit Animals fic called "Keepers of the Zodiac."
I have been struggling to continue the story as of late, and there's a huge lack of character development and just... development in general, so I decided to hit the restart button on the project and start again.
This time, I'm actually thinking the story through and coming up with better things to go on between the characters rather than just chitty-chatting and everyone falling for each other.
But first, we need characters. So I now announce a character call for the rewrite of "Keepers of the Zodiac!"
Yes, I will miss my OCs terribly, despite the lack of characterization, but I feel that this is a good way to get more interactive with you readers and will provide a writing challenge for me to get creative with some sort of template. In other words, new experience that I'm excited to try out.
Without further ado, let the call begin...

ONCE upon a time, millennia ago, the world was in chaos from a dark force known as the Darkening, wiping out populations of Erdas life. The Great Beasts had barely managed to imprison the Darkening in the world above, it's only gateway being the Evertree.
Tellun had decided to announce a race to the Evertree to determine its guardians, in case the Darkening ever returned. The Rat arrived first, riding in the ear of the Ox, who came second. They were followed by the competitive Tiger and Rabbit. The Dragon came fifth, and since Tellun knew of the Dragon's undying loyalty, he allowed its relative, the Snake, to become the sixth guardian. The Horse and Goat arrived next, allowing each other to reach the Evertree first, since they were generous creatures. The Monkey, nimble and falling behind, came ninth, and was followed by the Rooster, Dog, and Pig.
These twelve animals were granted guardianship of the Evertree and made sure the Darkening did not escape its prison - until the tree was destroyed and the gate was weakened.
Though the Evertree was reborn years prior, the Darkening finally made its move and is attempting to break into Erdas once more and chaos will ensue again. To warn the people and fight the Darkening, the Guardians were summoned to the different corners of Erdas, where the first Keepers of the Zodiac shall rise and save their world from the ancient evil. However, the Darkening has allies in Erdas that will make preventing its reign a bigger struggle...
