okay.

hi.

been awhile, i know, but i reeeeeeeeaaaaaaallllllyyyyy haven't been in the fanfic zone. especially since i'm just now reimmersing myself in the beautiful fairytale retellings of lucy tempest (which, btw, go read her series "fairytales of folkshore" because it's honestly the best indie published series of retellings i've read). which makes me think about my retellings, which leads me to a bit of a predicament...

i have the snow queen story incorporated in 4 story ideas. that's 3 stories too many, in my humble opinion. so i need help to narrow it down.

basically, i'm asking you fellow people in my upcoming plots book (because these retellings are upcoming plots for my other account, ElysiaRyliee) to help me decide which of these ideas the snow queen story can be best incorporated in. some of them may seem a bit outlandish, but i promise there's a good reason...

1. MIRROR MIRROR (working title): a snow white retelling with minor sprinkles of rapunzel. the snow queen would be snow's stepmother, however in this story, snow is actually a prophetess abducted by the queen as a baby and locked in a tower forced to channel her foresight into a handheld mirror to identify the fairest of them all. when snow - okay, let's just call her mira because that's the name i have for her - when mira's name suddenly appears in her mirror as the fairest, she's forced to flee and the snow queen threatens to freeze the kingdom to go on a manhunt for her. the last bit about what the snow queen will actually do is still a work in progress, but i found it fitting just because the story was ideally going to be set in the winter faery court of the faeryland i had in mind. as i do the other ideas.

2. DANCE OF SWANS (working title): a 12 dancing princesses/swan lake retelling that i'm not so invested on incorporating the snow queen in. the only reason i'm considering this is because it would be really cool to have a dozen girls performing a choreographed dance in a magical ice palace, like, that would be SICK. however, that would just sort of throw in an unnecessary antagonist or completely erase the whole swan lake aspect of the story, which in root, is the same. basically, the story is about these twelve girls forced together - be it by dance competition or all victims of a swan curse - unlocking the secret truths that lie beneath them, finding luuuuvvvvv, and getting the hell away from wherever they're being "locked up" in. while i'm considering on crossing this one off the list of what retelling to incorporate snow queen into, it's still a pretty neat concept.

3. ICE, SALT, AND SNOW (working title): a little mermaid retelling set in winter court of faey. it has the basic concept of an outcasted mermaid longing to walk on land after have her first interaction with anything remotely close to the idea, however she's from the northernmost seas and saves the snow queen's one rival for the throne - who was shoved into the ice cold sea to ensure her succession before the mermaid intervened. this idea i'm starting to like more and more as i type it out because it would make such an interesting retelling, with not only the mermaid having to face the sea witch she bargains with for legs, but also having to handle the threat of the snow queen usurping her love's throne without being able to utter a single word. also, again, ice palace would be an awesome ballroom dance setting.

4. WINTER'S CLOCK (working title): a nutcracker retelling with the snow queen taking the place of the mouse king, also attempting to usurp the nutcracker prince by cursing him to be... well, a nutcracker. gifted to the protagonist (who i'm considering on having her co-star in a rapunzel/prince and the pauper retelling), the nutcracker - due to magic - comes to life and tells her of what happened to him and that he must return to the winter court to prevent the snow queen from being crowned. not too many details, and again, awesome ice palace dance sequence, but it's a thought considering how the original nutcracker story was set at christmastime.

i probably just gave you a difficult decision, not to toot my own creative horn, but i really hate how my brain comes up with all of this. ever since i read lucy tempest's "princess of midnight," a cinderella/snow queen retelling, i've just been obsessed with mashing the latter story with a bunch of other pretty nifty ideas. thoughts?

i wish i can tell you i'll update a fic soon, but i honestly have no idea. with school and finals coming up, plus my ag channel coming back to life and everything else in between, all i've really been using wattpad for is for reading and updates. kind of sad and pathetic on my part, i know, but i still love all of you and i really wanna do you guys justice and get stories out to you, but idk how long that'll be.

for now, though, go follow my original stories account (tagged above) for my original stories, as i currently have an aladdin/cinderella retelling sort of sparking, as well as sleeping beauty, beauty and the beast, princess and the pea, frog prince, and others! i'll try to do what i can about  publishing actual fic chapters, but we'll see. ta ta!! <3
