8: INT. BRIAN'S HOUSE (BEDROOM) DAY

One week following the affair with Julie Glover, Rachael finds some revealing lyrics.

RACHAEL: (folding laundry) (notices Brian's songbook is open) (to herself) "I looked over and saw Brian's journal was open on his nightstand. My curiosity peeked as I reluctantly picked up the book." (finds a song called Love Token and reads aloud to herself) "Mama's in love, papa's in love. It's such a shame they don't love each other." Is this how he really feels? (continues reading) "Everybody's crying but they can't stop hoping, everybody's looking for the door that's open. Mama's making heat to keep the old fire smoking, papa's hanging on to his old love token." (gets to the last line) "I don't wanna leave you Mama, but I'm gonna have to baby..." Is he leaving me? (to herself) "I immediately closed the book and grabbed my autoharp as a gentle melody came to me."

(A/N: Love Token was a song I discovered shortly after I finished the book. I could see my character finding it and confronting Brian about it but instead I had her write a song. I included "The Real Me" on the fictional track list to Rachael's album, Read Between The Lines in Love Of My Life before I even heard Love Token, so had I heard it before hand, this would have been what happened leading up to the recording of the album.)
