A friend is someone who understands your past, believes in your future, and accepts you just the way you are.

The morning went on pretty fast and soon it was afternoon, which meant it was time for music and dancing at the auditorium. The hired DJ did not disappoint and soon everyone was on the dance floor shaking what their mamas gave them. The school washrooms were converted into make-out rooms and smoking zones and teachers had a hard time controlling the students; all except Gianna. She had sneaked out of her duty and went to join the students at the dance floor. She expected Stewart to pass any moment and wanted to show him how much she knew how to wiggle her backside. That left her at the mercy of the football team as they drooled over her, trying to sneak their way behind her.

Jeff was surely not in the mood for dancing. As he sat on the seats that were placed higher from the auditorium floor, he couldn't help but notice Aiden being all over Luis, trying to grind his small ass on him.

Ugh! What does Luis see in that son of a bitch?

"Probably the large eyelashes and that skinny waist he loves to brag about, as if we haven't seen them already!" Marcus said, as he sat down beside Jeff.

"I said that loud, didn't I?" Jeff asked, cringing.

"You're lucky it was your best friend around and not that self-proclaimed queen," replied Marcus, his head pointing towards Aiden. They both stared for a moment at the students dancing, each one in his own thoughts.

"Why aren't you on the dance floor anyway? I can see Michelle looking for a dance partner," Jeff asked Marcus, giving him a mischievous nudge.

"You know me. I don't want to go embarrass myself over there. I do not have an idea of how to dance," Marcus answered, shaking his head.

"Oh right! You told me you hated Chris Brown just because he knows how to dance. Now I remember."

"Fuck you!" Marcus remarked and they both broke into laughter. They fell silent again and Marcus turned to his best friend.

"So when are you going to tell Luis that, you know, like like him?"

Jeff turned to Marcus, shock in his face. "Who told you I liked liked him? I am a normal boy who has feelings for girls."

"Well whatever feelings you have for those girls must be nothing compared to the way you look at Luis," Marcus said.

"What?! I just look at him like every other normal person does. I also look at you like that!" Jeff exclaimed.

"Really?" Marcus rolled his eyes. "You look at me with eyes that plead for sex?"

"Ew! Not sex. Love."

"So you do admit that you've been smitten by him?"

Jeff kept quiet for a moment.

"Okay. I don't know what to say. I've been really confused about my sexuality of late," Jeff confessed.

"So do you like like him?" Marcus asked.

"I don't know. All I know is that I forget myself when I'm around him. And even if I did, there's no way he'd pick me over that...hot, croptop-wearing Aiden," Jeff sighed.

They kept quiet; their eyes focused on the guy pouring alcohol into the punch bowl. Marcus turned to Jeff again, and Jeff looked at him earnestly.

"Do you remember that day when that Director of Education came into school and started giving this speech that went well past lunchtime?" Marcus asked Jeff.

"Of course. I'd never forget," Jeff grinned.

"When you noticed that it was past our lunch you broke into the media room and started singing Starving. William broke into one hell of an angry fit."

"Yeah!" Jeff laughed. "He suspended me blaming for getting the whole school to sing it and interrupted the speech by saying that I was starving for home. Did you know my dad prayed the shit out of me thinking I had been possessed!"

"I didn't know I was starving till you made your speech—"

They broke into a serious laughter, getting angry stares from the other students sitting around them. The laughter finally died down, and their eyes riveted back to the dance floor where they watched as Gianna slapped one of the jocks who had been brave enough to spank her.

"I honestly don't get the moral lesson of you reminding me of my indiscipline," Jeff remarked.

"It wasn't about the indiscipline. It was about how you delivered your message," Marcus replied.

"So you want me to go and sing in front of the whole school that I am in love with the Spanish papi who also happens to be the conquest of the school bitch?!" Jeff glared at Marcus unbelievably.

"You have a beautiful voice."

"Are you out of your mind?!"

"All I'm saying is you find the convenient way of expressing your feelings to him. You're creative, I'm sure you'll think of something. As for me, let me go and conclude Michelle's search. I think she was looking for me."

Marcus stood up from his seat and started walking off. He suddenly stopped, turned back and went back to Jeff who was in deep thought.

"Hey, Jeff?" He called him.

"Yeah?"

"No matter who you like, or who you prefer, you will always be my best friend."
