THE SUN SLIPS its fingers through the blinds, the bright sun shining through Nick's room, its shadow still in the hardwood floor, a pattern of light and shadow in stripes, reminding him, a new day has been given to him.
A special one to be exact.
Sitting down his bed, Nick stared at the ground, wearing a tuxedo, a classic plain red tie hanging around his neck, his hair slicked back neatly, fancy black shoes for his feet, and last but not least, a dumbfounded and dazed smile.
A thornless rose entangled in his fingers, he smiled to himself.
He planned for this day almost for the whole year. He had waited for a whole year. It had been a whole year. And now, there is not another year for him to wait again.
The day had come.
──────────
He had his head leaned back on the car seat, sighing dreamily while a whole amazing day plays in his head.
A bouquet of roses sitting on the passenger seat, the whole park's garden rented out, almost everything was ready, he had just needed her.
it's their first year anniversary, a day he had been waiting for, planning for, remaining and still is a vision inside his head, until, ofcourse, now.
pressing on gas, his car accelerates through the empty, early morning streets.
a smile etched into his features, his dimples as deep as the ocean floor.
why wouldn't he be happy in the first place?
The day would be amazing, perfect! He knows it, he had planned for it. And not a single flaw came to mind.
But that's where he's wrong.
Nick, being the immature junior high school student, a simple seventeen year old boy saw the world in a clear facade of a fantasy any immature, apparently immune to society's influence-teen would see it.
A world that can still be molded into something better.
we know all too well that's not true.
So being the boy he once was, he ignored every negative thing about the world.
Ignoring the fact that his heart could be broken.
broken by a girl who he thought he can have, a girl he thought still loves him.
truth is, she fell out of love the moment she fell in it.
──────────
he sat there, still and frozen while he tap his fingers in an impatient beat, boredom devouring his whole state.
not wanting to bore himself to death, Nick entertained himself by watching and noticing every bit of detail of his surroundings.
as he study the garden, a weak smile rose up to his features.
rose petals spread around the garden pathways evenly while glowing fairy lights hung on the garden pillars, gates, on the fountain, and surrounds the whole candlelight dinner.
the whole garden smelled like flowers. In fact, the whole garden was filled with every type of flower he could name off.
then, his peripheral vision caught a beautiful color of red, and as soon as his gaze drops to the dozens and dozens of red roses, his smile drops with it.
