Hello guys again!
Since it is my first time ever writing a novel, I'm pretty excited and here I'm on again with another chapter.

______________________________________

It's the last day of the summer holidays. From tomorrow starts a whole new academic year.

Its evening 5,
Amber and her friends sat at the attic, discussing about their home works and assignments.
Summer says "Damn guys, why can't the vacation go on forever. I want to complete writing my new song I am working on."

To this Clay replies "Dude then what do you want jobless people like us to do? High school means new chicks to look at. And people can get to know who's the most handsome guy of the school! " pointing towards himself he winks.

All chuckle.

Tylor adds to the conversation saying "I want to take part in the year end fashion star contest. I'm all set for it."

Summer claps to it.

Clay adds " Darling, you don't need to become the fashion queen. If no one gives in with you! I will!" Winks again.

To this Tylor rolls her eyes off and everyone pulls off to laughter.

But Amber seems to be lost in her own world. She ain't into the conversation.

"Amber! Amber!" Summer calls.
Amber comes to herself and tries to get off her thoughts.

" What is it you are thinking honey?" asks Clay.

" It's just nothing. Me and my stupid thoughts. Let me get you guys some lemonade." Saying this Amber avoids the conversation.

Everyone looks at each other. Looks like something ain't just going right with Amber.
But soon everybody starts with their gossips again.

Pouring the lemonade out of the jar, downstairs, Amber overhears her mom on call. Amber sighs knowing its none other than her dad.

Amber and her mom - dad made a great family. Until her dad's extra marital affair with his secretary, Olivia Hudson, an extremely professional, good looking and outspoken lady. Since her dad started going out with Olivia, things took poor shape in their lives. The relationship of her mom and dad got ruined, finally ending into separation.

Amber's dad always loved his daughter and always had his heart towards Amber. But looking at the ongoing clashes even Amber could not take Olivia into good terms.

Amber was 12, when her parents got separated. It was hard living without dad who seemed to be her world then. With her mom struggling to get her works published and keep up with the world, Amber felt low that she wasn't helping in any way. Ava, her mom didn't want Adam Brown to contact her daughter.

Amber settles herself. Comes out of all these thoughts and takes the glasses of lemonade up to the attic.
They drink off the lemonade and chat.

Its 7 pm already now.
Tylor takes her bag and waves bye to everyone.

To this Summer also packs saying " Guys, I think it is time to go. We also need to do preparations for tomorrow right?"

Clay asks her " Do you need a ride back home? I can drop you."

Summer says " Yeah, that would really be good."

" So common girl, hop onto my bike!"

" Wait a while outside! I will be right there in a while! " Summer replies.

When everyone's out Summer asks Amber " Honey is everything alright? You look worried!"

To this, Amber shrugs saying "I guess so! "

"Cool, talk to me whenever you need okay!" Summer assures her giving Amber a tight hug.

"Yeah I will! " Amber replies.

"Okay bye love "

"Bye Summer."

Amber all alone sits near the window waving at her friends. Looking at the sky, all dusky and misty, she felt how her life looked the same. With her best friends around who would do anything for her, still a void remained down deep inside.

She pulls herself back to normal and decides to start a fresh tomorrow. She makes up her mind and starts packing her bag. She puts her notebooks, her literature assignment, her diary that she would carry always, and her pouch. She cleans the room and takes back the glasses downstairs.

She finds her mom sitting in the kitchen near the dining table, all worried.

Amber tries to look normal and asks, " Hey mom! What's up! Need some help with dinner?"

Her mom pulls her back to self and replies " Sure honey. Get the salad and the cutleries!"

Both of them try to pretend things are fine and get into their own peace with the little happiness they hold to. And the silence is taken over by the small chats on the dinner table.

Hey there guys.
Finally done with another chapter.
