Games night with Noodle (reader is gender neutral :) )

It was late at night. You and Noodle had been up all day playing video games with one another. You yawned and checked the time, it was almost midnight now, you didn't realise how long you'd been playing together for. You gave her a small nudge and she glanced over at you briefly as if to ask what you wanted
"Hey umm. It's getting really late, shouldn't you get going?" You ask, nodding towards the clock. Noodle looked up at the clock in slight shock
"Crap I didn't realise it was that late" she said as she looked back at the screen to see that she'd lost "shit" she mumbled and flopped against the sofa "so..is it okay if I stay over for the night?" She asked as she switched off the console. You simply nod and shrug a little
"Sure I don't see why not" you respond. Noodle had stayed over several times in the past so this wasn't necessary anything new to either of you. You stood up and went to the kitchen to get both of you a cup of hot chocolate, followed by noodle who hoisted herself up onto the breakfast bar, swinging her legs as she waited for you to finish making the hot chocolates.
"So, what are you doing tomorrow? Do you need me out of the house early?" She asked, tilting her head slightly out of habit whilst she asked the question
"You don't really have to leave early but I do have a date tomorrow" you said as you stirred the hot chocolates. Noodle suddenly stopped swinging her legs
"Oh..that's cool.." she mumbled "who with?"
You turned around and handed her the hot chocolate. She didn't even look you in the eye 'that's odd' you thought to yourself. Even so you continued on with your explanation whilst she just sat there sipping her hot chocolate, still not even glancing at you. Suddenly there was a huge crash outside. It was a thunder storm. Noodle squeaked as she dropped her mug on the floor in surprise
"Fuck! I'm so sorry" she blurted and quickly tried to pick it all up
"Hey, don't worry about it" you say and take her hand to try and calm her down. As she looked up at you you slowly realise that she has tears in her eyes
"Hey...are you okay?" You ask her. She wipes her tears and shrugs
"Yeah, just don't like storms" Noodle replied and snatched her hands away from you. Just as she snatched her hands away the power went off
"Oh for fucks sake" you mutter under your breath "maybe we should just head to bed" you suggest. She just nods
"Your bed?" She asked. You nodded and the two of you headed off to your bedroom. You both just collapsed onto the bed, noodle almost immediately started snuggling up to you, desperately trying to block out the sound from the storm outside. You were about to wrap your arms around her when you heard her sniffling quietly
"Noodle what's wrong? You never get this upset over storms" you ask her as you play with her hair. She looks up at you and sniffs slightly.
"How stupid do you have to be? I like you" she whispers. The room falls completely silent except for the rain beating against the window and the thunder outdoors. Noodle was shaking in your arms. You could tell she was both scared and cold. You took off your sweatshirt and passed it to her as she looked at you in confusion
"Why didn't you just say something?" You ask her as she put on the sweatshirt and curled up in a ball
"I don't know. I guess I was just...scared of rejection" she mumbled. You held her chin and for a split second time felt like it stopped, then you kissed. You stayed like that for a while, just holding one another close before you finally broke apart. Noodle didn't say a word. She just cuddled up to you and slowly fell asleep. You also fell asleep soon after her.

The next day

You were up at sunrise however noodle stayed awake for roughly another 20 minutes. You just lay there smiling at her and how peaceful she looked until she eventually woke up, yawning and stretching a little before she eventually locked eyes with you
"So umm...do you want me to leave so you can go on your date" she teased slightly. You gave her a quick kiss on the forehead and smiled
"Nah, you can stay"
