Chapter 899: He Wouldn’t Be Able to Sleep in the Same Room As Nian Xi Anymore

Cristine shook her head. “I’m not sure, but we have to be careful. This guy is so talented even at such a young age. Did you listen to his talk just now? Given his understanding of black-holes, I wouldn’t be surprised if he went on to study the subject of dark-matter energy.”

Mr. Oda looked shocked. “If he has a breakthrough in that area, it could be utilized in every aspect…”

Cristine squinted her eyes. “It’ll be best if we could keep him in Paris, just in case…”

They exchanged a knowing look.

Jiang Yuning emerged from the hall along with Nian Xi before he said unhappily, “He bullied you.”

Nian Xi cursed saying, “Now I know there are shameless people in every field.”

“Yeah, let’s not talk to him in the future.” Jiang Yuning nodded his head. He would remember Mr. Oda from now on.

Nian Xi found it funny. “I won’t be encountering him anymore. You on the other hand…”

“Mr. Jiang, let’s get in the car.” Zhan Hong drove over.

In the car, Nian Xi angrily recounted what had happened in the hall to the rest of the group. Uncle Han frowned and said, “Mr. Jiang’s research on nanotechnology is highly classified information. How could it be leaked out? Is there a spy amongst us?”

At that moment, the atmosphere was tense.

Fang Qi quickly raised his hands and said, “Not me. I didn’t even know what kind of research Mr. Jiang was doing until now.”

Uncle Han glanced over at Nian Xi.

“Not her,” Jiang Yuning said as he scooted closer to Nian Xi.

Nian Xi was touched by his gesture but understood Uncle Han’s suspicions. She was the one who stayed in the same room as Jiang Yuning. She was the most likely candidate who would’ve see him rehearse his script.

“Uncle Han, my father works in the military and my grandfather was in the army too. I would never do such a thing,” Nian Xi said. “I think if we’re going to look into this, we might want to focus on the laboratory assistants at the research center.”

“Right,” Zhan Hong said quickly. “We’re all transferred from the police station. We don’t know anything about research.”

Uncle Han sighed. “So you spoke about black holes?”

Jiang Yuning nodded his head, then paused for a long while before saying, “It was an urgent predicament. I had no choice…”

“You must have stood out. I’m just worried…” Uncle Han said. “The original plan was for you to return three days later. I think we should move the date forward. We’ll leave tomorrow.”

“Why?” Nian Xi was puzzled. “Are you worried those people would hurt Mr. Jiang? Shouldn’t they be used to this? There are always going to be people more knowledgeable than others. They can’t possibly hurt whoever’s better than them.”

“Does it have to do with your secret research project?” Zhan Hong asked.

Uncle Han was silent.

Zhan Hong and Nian Xi looked at each other before he started the car. “Let’s return tomorrow then, but we would need a reasonable excuse. He is supposed to attend the French Research Centre Dinner Gala. Now that we’re leaving early, we might look even more suspicious…”

“Let’s just claim that we caught the person who leaked the information and we have to go back to deal with the matter,” Nian Xi said.

“That’s a good idea.” Uncle Han nodded his head and looked at Jiang Yuning. “What do you think?”

Jiang Yuning was frustrated. If they went back, it would mean that he wouldn’t be able to sleep in the same room as Nian Xi anymore, and she would also have to work in the same place as her ex-boyfriend.

“Mr. Jiang, what are you thinking about?”

“Nothing.” Jiang Yuning shook his head; he appeared dejected.

He felt troubled, so he decided to continue working on his love letter.
