DragonMaster

Astrid Hofferson knew all too well that fiction wasn't real, and that's that. Yet sometimes she felt as though her works were real. That the characters in them were alive and breathing; but then again, how could they be real? They were just people who were made from her imagination.

Oh yes, I forgot, Astrid Hofferson is a Literary Major and has written a fictional series and a non - fictional work based on philosophy. She wasn't very famous, but she did have her fair share of fans.

Anyway, Astrid was just on the phone, arguing with her best friend, Ruffnut Thorston. "Why do I have to marry now, Ruff? I'm still twenty - five, gee whiz!" she yelled through the phone.

"Come on, Astrid," Ruffnut's voice came drifting from the other end of the line, "Your growing old, and plus, you like Tuffnut!"

Astrid scoffed. "That crush lasted only for a year, and that was when I was twelve."

"Yeah right," Ruffnut said. "And you know, if you just give Tuffnut a chance, we could be sisters!" Astrid rolled her eyes and shook her head, even if Ruffnut couldn't see her do it.

"Pfft; I'm going to hang up now, Ruff," Astrid said. She put down the telephone before Ruffnut could say anything. Standing up from the chair she was sitting on, she entered her small bedroom in the apartment she owned. It had one bedroom, a bathroom, a small living room and a small kitchen with a wooden counter which served as a table.

She walked towards the small desk stationed at the right side of her small bed and sat on the chair that came along with it. "Stupid Ruff," she mumbled, "just because she's married doesn't mean I should marry."

Sighing, she opened her laptop which sat on the desk and turned it on. She then opened Microsoft Word and started typing. She typed in whatever came into her mind and then she stopped. Her fingers just stopped hitting buttons. She became surprised at what she read; it was supposed to be a really short paragraph which contained things that would most probably be unintelligible, but it wasn't.

She reread it with awe:

He was a Viking prodigy. He trained the fiercest creatures (dragons) and made them his village's allies. Because of that, he won the village's respect in an early age, but it didn't give him an ego. Instead, he treated the villagers with equal respect too.

Embarking on quests, he mapped the world and protected others with his loyal dragon; a Night Fury, the Alpha of all dragons. He was loved and respected, and he was his father's pride and joy.

Unlike other Vikings, he experimented on things. A big smile would grace his lips when he accomplished something, and a smirk would come when he won the dragon races. He had a playful attitude, the soul of a dragon and the heart of a chief.

Astrid found herself reading her short drabble with awe. It wasn't like all her other unpublished short stories. Smiling, she saved the document as "Viking Prodigy" and saved it into her folder "Drabbles".

She then logged on to her favorite art and literature site (though, her identity wasn't known on that site). She posted the file there, and in a few minutes, there were comments from her followers.

Smiling at all the positive reviews on "Viking Prodigy", Astrid sat back and relaxed. She closed her eyes, enjoying the silence that surrounded her. She was just about to sleep when she was startled by a sudden ding that was heard from the computer. She sat up and saw that she had received a private message from someone.

Opening it, she saw that it was from a person who called himself "DragonMaster". She read the note and laughed.

DragonMaster - Hi! I see you've been writing about me. Have we met before, or have I been walking through your dreams?

She quickly replied.

LitFreak - Haha, don't flatter yourself. You and I both know that Vikings didn't really kill dragons before.

DragonMaster - And what if they did?

LitFreak - You'd have to prove it, mister.

DragonMaster - How'd you know that I'm a guy?

LitFreak - I was obviously writing about a guy, and you typed, "I see you've been writing about me."

DragonMaster - Good sense of observation, LitFreak.

LitFreak - Thank you; that's my only talent.

DragonMaster - What about writing?

LitFreak - That's a past time.

DragonMaster - It's a talent.

This message really caught Astrid off - guard. Most people just agreed to her statement. That writing was just her past time or sometimes she said it was a skill. But he, he was saying it was a talent. Did he really think that? Well, of course, but she was still going to protest.

LitFreak - It's not.

DragonMaster - It is and there is no way I'm changing my mind.

LitFreak - Fine. I'm going to log off now.

DragonMaster - Okay. Bye!

And Astrid left it at that. She logged off the site and looked at the time; it was eight o'clock in the evening already. Guess I'll just take a nap and go to the supermarket tomorrow. Then I'll pack and fly off to Arendelle and visit Mom, she thought to herself.

She then drifted off to sleep, her conversation with DragonMaster fresh in her mind as she drifted off into dreamless slumber.

A/N: Okay, this is my second try at fanfiction. This time, it's a HiccStrid centered story with bits of Jelsa. I'll probably put in a few Jastrid references, like how I added a TuffStrid one. I'm just interested in these two ships that's why. :D
